Mate I loved the west indies in the 70s, 80s and early 90s especially the batters

Viv Richards
Richie Richardson
Gordon Greenidge
Dessie Haynes

Tried to base my batting stance on Richie Richardson haha and my bowling technique on Ian bishop. No wonder I didn’t make it
Clive Lloyd, campaigner was a hard hitter.

Great player bit before my time though

That 80s windies side I loved. Ambrose, Walsh, bishop, hooper, Marshall I loved how good they were and how they terrorised the oppo. You had to be good to win against them

Yep and not forgetting Carl Hooper, one of the best bats going around brilliant cricketer and could tear an attack to bits if he was in the mood to commit to his innings but would often lose interest or concentration and throw his wicket away.

I've found the absolute sweet spot for the beer fridge. If you turn it to max the beers freeze. I've been gradually backing it off so maximum coldness and the beers are a bees dick from freezing. Perfection.

Got to love this thread. No matter how shitty the world is now, Trump - Gaza - Ukraine - climate change - AFL HQ, you campaigners post about little things on here that find a happy spot with me.

Like cricket bats and I get to thinking about the greatest, most exciting batsman I have ever saw throw one around... The Dustin Martin of 1st class cricket - Doug Walters from our dreaded Sheffield Shield enemy NSW.

Seeing him on the pitch against our best in Lawry, Redpath, Sheahan and Keith Stackpole was magic.

Dunno what the temp is, it's an old fridge. It's basically a bees dick from freezing so I'd guess about 1°C.
Beers right on the edge of freezing are pretty much the pinnacle of existence. Nothing better on a hot day, or on a cold day paired with a hot curry.

Had curried prawns and rice tonight

Check him out.

They came to PNG in the mid 80s played a PNG select side and we ran out of kookaburras as they kept on being hit into Fairfax Harbour at the Hubert Murray stadium

Haven’t seen a lot of shield cricket I have to admit but I did wonder down the G one year to see pukovski

Damn. Soo much talent the sound of the ball coming off his bat was unreal. He’ll go down as the best could have beens of all time he was that good

Always wanted a meaty millichamp and hall. No way would I have been strong enough to handle one though. My brother had a single scoop in the 80s and I thought he was the coolest guy to ever grace a cricket pitch with that bat. He is a fair bit older than me, so him playing a grade at the local hard wicket club AND with his single scoop pretty much had him up there for me at a similar level of awesomeness to Simon O’Donnell and dean jones My two other favourite cricketers at the time. Got some great memories of hot summer nights and day/night games in the 80s
