Fair enough they have sold O'brien, Hughes ad Mclean they where just role players but then they go and sell 2 of our most talented players for much less than we paid for them in Bellamy and Robert, i know it was hard to keep Robert and i dnt blame the club for selling them but the men in charge have left us very short on numbers. There is still more, without a hint of signing a noted striker as yet we let Kluivert (albeit and underachieving Kluivert) go and to just butter up the other departures we decide to sell of 1 of our most talented young midfielders Darren Ambrose to Charlton.

Im all for the club selling and buying players if there is some equalibriam but at the moment all we are doing is selling and selling and selling. Unless the club has 3 or 4 well credintled players ready to come in i think that the fat **** Freddy Shephard has lost the plot.

Im telling you right now unless the club makes some quick signings of some big names especially Emre then Tyneside is gonna be a riot. The club needs to work desperatly hard to sign a striker and even if they went for the underachieving Spanish wounder kid Saviola then that would at least give fans something to work with. At the moment the place is a shambles, and heads will roll if things dont improve.

You know what the funniest aspect of the whole situation is??? we have resigned Caig,Elliot, and Chopra to new deals, isnt that just the iceing on the cake.

cheers

We sold O'Brien (not a problem), Hughes (idiocy on the manager's part) and released McClen (worthless).

As far as Robert and Bellamy go, both were cancers that needed to excised long ago.

We were never going to get back anywhere near the £9.5m we paid for Robert in today's market and given he's 30 - and Bellamy himself scuppered any chance of us making our money back when he turned down Birmingham's £6m bid not that long ago.

Yeah we're short on numbers, but aside from keeping Hughes, there's not much more we could do short of buying new players, which we are still trying to do after landing Parker.

Kluivert was a fat useless drain on our wagebill while Ambrose is just another flop. He has a good shot on him, but not much else. We have Dyer and Milner ahead of him in the queue to play wide right.

Saviola is an Argie.

Nothing wrong with re-signing Caig, Elliott and Chopra to new deals - decent depth.

Be patient and wait to see how things pan out. Our squad is only thin upfront (Dyer will play alongside Shearer if need be) and wide left (Hugo and Milner are credible stopgaps).

If we can land Emre we're OK, but a quality forward to play alongside then take over from Al wouldn't go astray.

Your right Saviola is Spanish haha been playing to much Pro Evo where his in the Barcelona colours, dunno why i thought he was Spanish i play with the Argies in Internationals.

Your Dyertribe we badly need someone upfront to help AS because even though i hate to admit through injury and loss of form his performances have dwindled.

I have a mate who is in London now :( , and he emailed me and told me the geordies are going of there heads at the moment. Its vety easy from Australia to sit back and say things will change what where doing is right but try living in England where Football is like a wine only the best will do.

People are getting sick to death of Fat Freddy and his abysmal transfer record, he constantly pays over the top for players and sells to cheap, he brings in dud players and lets go good ones. Now its Pre season and we are getting ready for the Intertoto Cup and we have Chopra as a starting striker, bloody Chopra wouldnt get a start Sydney FC or the Victory in front of Yorke and Thompson.

Arrhh im very annoyed because the club has so much potential yet is being held back by the cretins who run the place. I just hope the Robbie Elliot does not get a start next season and is in the reserves to help out the youngsters, he is to old to slow and over the hill.

cheers

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

I agree. If I were a Newcastle fan Id be pretty concerned.

Letting A good young versatile defender in HUghes go was stupid. Robert and Bellamy both had to go..

The thing that gets me is the amount of central midfielders u have. Faye, Butt, Jenas, Bowyer, Dyer... Now you have gone and bought Parker and looking to get EMRE (two more centre midfielders. Baffling for me...

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Its hard not to be worried, but im trying to stay optamistic that more players will arrive soon. It cant be a case of having to sell off the hangers on before having the money to bring in new players, I mean, what happened to this 20million that was supposedly available for rooney?
At least the Bellamy saga has come to an end, leading (hopefully) to a new beginning where the trouble-makers have departed and the side can rebuild.

Our main target needs to be a striker. Shearer has signed on for another year, with only Ameobi and Chopra to accompany him. Since the new year, we scored only 14 goals from 17 games in the premier league. Whats going to fix this problem? Another midfielder?
- Parker (new)
- Butt
- Faye
- Ambrose (gawn)
- Bowyer (to brum soon maybe?)
- Dyer
- Jenas
- Viana (back)
- N'Zogbia

There are some quality players there, im not having a bitch about that. Shearer will not work as a sole striker and those midfielders that were there last season could barely string 15 goals between them. At least our defence is looking the best its been in a while if they can keep some form.

haway the lads

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

We'll be okay if a few more signings come our way.

The way I hear it from mates in England is:

Emre is ours. Good quality signing, can play anywhere in the midfield and a bit play up front.

Oliver Bernard is expected back. He is terribly sorry for his decision to try for more money and wants a Newcastle return. Much needed depth player, solid left back.

Dirk Kuyt is not out of the question. Newcastle have flown over a few times to watch his matches so its not out of teh question.

We need another 2 strikers, a Central Defender and I think we should be fine.... The cancers have been weeded out at long last!!!

He'll cost the club upwards of 10million pounds, can Newcastle afford that?

Probably not but we will try still!

I wonder how much Bellamy was sold for and i wonder how much Darren Ambrose was sold for? His goal against Bolton was awesome last year smashing volley!

Ah the Emre saga drags on then there is the constent stories of Boa Morte from Fulham and then i read the price could be about £5 million for him. That is staggering but im sure we will pay it and then sell him to Villa for £900,000 or something stupid like that.

Over it already :D

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Money is not the problem, we had 20m to buy Rooney last year and thats without Bellamy,Robert,Ambrose and co being sold, i would take a stab at it but we should have around 25m in the kitty for players. The problem is getting these guys to sign for the club, who would want to play for a mid range underachieving club with all the problems we have had?.

I dont want Bernard back, he was a solid LB but we have Babayaro and he should cement that spot for his own. I dont want average to good players like Boa Morte either we dont need them. If Newcastle are serious about the future we should go for the players who are proven matchwinners or have the potential to be match winners.

In my world i would bring in the following Emre,Figo,Saha and possibly Van Buyten. I know Van Buyten has chosen to stay at Hamburg but i doubt the club would have chased that hard which is the nature of that moron Shephard. Bringing in thos players arent impossible, we have the room for there wages (Figo is willing to play for 50k a week we where paying Bellamy more than that) with Bellamy and Kluivert both earning 50k plus a week and departing Robert on around 40 k the room is there to bring in these players.

My starting 11 would be like this.

Given

Carr Boumsong Van Buyten Babayaro

Dyer Parker Emre

Figo

Shearer Saha

Sub: Jenas , Ameobie, Bramble, Viana, Butt, Taylor

I know ill cop some ribbing but that 11 is as good as any in the premier league, we probably only lack an out and out winger and a tough defender.

cheers

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Heard the Toon were interested in...

wait for it...

Diego Forlan!

What do you lot reckon about that?

Figo is on his way to Liverpool. There is a slight glitch in now that Real Madrid now want 2million for him after saying he could leave on a free.

You are right on the incident concerning Rooney, so they may have money to spend but the problem is do the players want to play for the club? There are a lot of ego's at the club and they have gotten rid of 2 of them with Bellamy and Robert gone.

Time will tell, but i dont think they'll be signing Kuyt, thats for sure.

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

We should have the money. We had the 20mil for Rooney a year ago and the players we have sold would add up to 10-15m

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Souness has said he will be using Dyer as a striker this season which won't be too bad , he did look promising when he played up there for brief periods last season.

Emre , Parker , and Jenas in the midfield is looking pretty good to me. And with Boumsong in the middle of the defence with Carr and Babayaro beside him the back 4 isn't looking too bad. And Given is still here despite rumours that he was off to a better club.

So we are heading in the right direction. Robert and Bellamy had to go , they are both arrogant and both tossers and trouble makers.

What are the chances that we will land either Alan Smith or Saha ? Are Man Utd willing to sell either of them at all ?

That huge big we made for Rooney at the time was going to be funded by our sponsers Northern Rock.

We don't have that much money to spend IMO.

To say we need some strikers desperatley is an understatment given that we have lost the players that scored nearly half of the goals we kicked last year.

A forward line of a finished Shearer, Super Shola and Chopra is scary for us and hilarious for other clubs. Don't mentioned Dyer with his injury record.

Then there is the problem of width. Then there is the problem with the depth of our defence with Carr, Bramble and Babayaro all injury prone.

I'm extreemly worried.

Apparently Souness already approached fergie for Smith but got turned away.

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Newcastle manager has answered some quetions on all things Newcastle posed to him by fans, via Newcastle world tv. He gave some insight into his intentions for the up and coming season and also news on Emre. This is my interpretation of what was said.

Are you worried the squad will be more depleted than last season?
Only July, not panicing. Have targets, on the way with Emre and other 'irons in the fire'. You'll be pleased.

Message to fans worried about the inability to attract players?

Not true, we are in contact with top players who have showed nothing but enthusiasm.

Concerned about 2 fit strikers?

Don't panic, we have targets. I want 2 more. I see Dyer as an obvious replacement for Bellamy, he has more goals in him. CB averages 9 a season, Dyer will get more. Dyer will be in the starting 11.

Could the Bellamy row not have been resolved?

Best thing for NUFC was for CB to go, healthier club and better team. Everyone here agrees with me. Won't go into any more detail. Feigned injury, and i've never lost sight of that - he created and continued the problem, not me. This is the last time i'll ever speak about him.

Emre

Emre is a fantastic player, better than Tugay. Supporters will love him. Deal made with Inter, now need to settle with the player.

Scott Parker

Not playing contact games yet, but will be ready for Arsenal, probably not early rounds of Intertoto. Our front 6 is very exciting - 1 DM, 5 players who will score goals.

hugo Viana

Don't know him, welcome back and has to show me what he can do. I'll judge him on what I see, fresh start. Fighting with Emre and Zoggy for left of centre.

How long is the Emre deal going to drag on? The fat c*ntroller said the same sort of thing a few weeks ago.

Several newspapers and websites are saying Monday or Tuesday but given how long this has dragged on for, who knows!

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

I would like to know who these top line players there talking to are?? Why the hell cant he gives us a few names?? its because his talking to bloody noone. Both Souey and Shephard are fat useless pigs, i would have perfered for Bellamy to stay and Souey to have gone.

We badly need to go after someone like Saha, he wouldnt cost to much and is a very capable scorer, what would United want for him?? 3m 4m?.

Need someone else in the middle of defence and 2 more strikers, a fit Woodgate would be handy. We have some depth if defence with Taylor,Bramble and Elliot and we should have had 1 of either Obrien or Hughes (Another decision that bewildes me).

cheers

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

Lets not go nuts here. Bellamy going can only be a good thing in the long run. Its just because we are so short of strikers that fans are starting to whinge. I didnt like the way Souness reacted and handled the situation either, but both of these men can be held responsible for causing a major split in our fans. If any success is going to occur, we need to get behind souness, or we will have another manager gone by december. Its become a hobby now.

edit:

Inter Milan midfielder Emre is on standby to fly to Tyneside in the next 48 hours to complete a £4m move to Newcastle United.

That was in the evening chronicle.

Re: EMRE in Toon

With the comments from Souness saying "Dyer is better than Bellamy" it looks like he's resigned to playing Kieron up front alongside Alan at least until the Winter window opens.

Remember, we're after guns here, no use bringing in scraps. We're long past the days when SBR had to go cap in hand to Shep to ask for £750k with which to sign Kevin Gallacher.

I'd rather see us wait and make do than rush in some pleb for a couple of million and a decent wage.

Re: EMRE in Toon

Bramble's busted his elbow on the training ground.

3 months on the sidelines apparently - makes the mindboggling decision to sell Aaron look even better.

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

They claim to be after 5 more players, now Emre is signed. 3 frontliners and 2 squad players:

Souness targets five more signings

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness will attempt to sign five more players before the closure of the transfer window as his new squad takes shape.

The Scot yesterday completed the capture of Inter Milan midfielder Emre Belozoglu following the arrival earlier this summer of £6.5million Scott Parker from Chelsea, and insisted that he will not stop there.

Arsenal's hugely experienced centre-back Sol Campbell has emerged as a target, while the club continues to pursue Fulham midfielder Luis Boa Morte among others after chairman Freddy Shepherd insisted a top-six finish is a must.

'If we get the players in that we are targeting, I am cool with that,' Souness said. 'I can live with that but if - and that is a big word, if - we get the players in we are talking about bringing in because at the end of the day, it would not take a mathematician to work out that we are short of numbers at this time at Newcastle.

'We have sold six; we have got two in. We have got two cracking players in Scott Parker and Emre, but we need, in my opinion, another three top men and maybe another two to be squad players.

'If we are to compete with the big boys, we need three more top men - when I say top men, established players who have been very good players either playing in the Premiership or have experience in the Premiership - and I would like two more that could come in and be squad players.

'That would cost good money, but we have targets and we will have to go and get them because we are short, and if we do that, I am more than confident if we can avoid a run of injuries to our top players, we can have a really good season next year.'

The arrival of Turkish international Emre as the club braced itself for an approach from Arsenal for Jermaine Jenas, ended a lengthy pursuit and rewarded the Magpies for their persistence.

The 24-year-old left-sided midfielder, who will wear the number five shirt vacated by central defender Andy O'Brien when he moved to Portsmouth, is relishing the chance to test himself in the Barclays Premiership after his spell in Serie A.

'I am very happy to have signed for Newcastle United because they are one of the biggest clubs in England,' he said.

'This is a very big club and I am so excited about the prospect of playing in the Premiership. It is a new challenge and one I am looking forward to very much.

'I would like to thank the manager Graeme Souness and chairman Freddy Shepherd for having the trust in me to bring me to Newcastle. Now I will give my very best for Newcastle and try to bring success to the club.'

Emre is no stranger to St James' Park having played there in a 4-1 Champions League victory for Inter in November 2002.

'I remember that night very well,' he told the club's official website. 'St James' Park is a fantastic stadium and the fans make a wonderful atmosphere inside the ground.

'I am looking forward to playing there many times as a Newcastle player now.'

and one of them may be ... wait for it ...

Anelka linked with Newcastle move

Newcastle could be ready to turn to controversial Frenchman Nicolas Anelka in their desperate search for a new striker.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City forward is one of the names under consideration by Graeme Souness as the manager seeks to replace Craig Bellamy and Patrick Kluivert.

Souness was today warding off speculation linking Jermaine Jenas with Arsenal, admitting though that a £20million bid, which is highly unlikely, might be hard to refuse.

He is more interested in recruiting than the selling of his best players, and 26-year-old Anelka, currently with Turkish club Fenerbahce, is understood to have been sounded out as Newcastle look for the right man to partner skipper Alan Shearer in his final season.

Anelka certainly has the pedigree and, having sold the troublesome duo of Bellamy and Laurent Robert, Souness may have to make allowances for a player whose attitude has been questioned more than once during his career.

Newcastle begin their season in Slovakia on Sunday with an Intertoto Cup clash with Dubnica.

They are preparing for the tie while attempting to bring new players to St James' Park and attempting to stave off an expected approach from Arsenal for Jenas.

The Magpies face a tough test if they are to qualify for the UEFA Cup via the Intertoto competition, with Deportivo La Coruna and either Lazio or Marseille potentially standing in their way.

Of the Dubnica match, Souness said: 'That is going to be a very difficult game for us.

'The fact that nobody knows about this team, or no-one has heard of this team or nobody knows anything about the players that play for this team, people may regard it as a formality - it is not a formality.

'This is going to be a very difficult game for us simply because they have been back six weeks and have played two competitive games; we have been back a fortnight and played no games.

'Two weeks' training in not enough training to get you fit to play competitive games, so this will be a very difficult game, combined with the fact that we have Emre and Scott Parker not available for the game, JJ is not available for the game, Stephen Carr is not available for the game and as we are sitting here, I think Shay will only be on the bench.

'Titus (Bramble, who has a fractured elbow) is obviously not involved - he was been a big player for us in the last six months of last season - so make no mistake about it, this is a difficult game for us.'

Re: What the Hell are Fat Freddy and Souey doing??

I think the Intertoto match is going to be a very tough one. Our numbers are thin and the team arent going to be 100% match fit yet.
