the world cups still in Qatar is it not?

Wasnt criticising the deal, unfortunately you see everywhere in sport where organisations look the other way.

Pre Ashley or even in his early years there was talk of expanding the Gallowgate end. I think they’ll examine that before moving. There’s really nowhere else in the city to build a new stadium anyway.

I’m tipping the new manager to be either Gerard or Potter.

conte and lampard also been mentioned

Doubt it’s Conte. Focus this year is saving us from relegation

why wouldn’t conte save us from relegation? Added bonus is he never stays more than two years at a club. And we might attract the type of player we need in the transfer window with him there

Because there’s no glory in it for him. Dude is an egotist who wants titles.

True but money talks. He might say no but they’ll at least ask the question. Martinez could also be an option
I dunno if Martinez will bounce before the WC.

Other EPL clubs bitching about money ‘fire power’ is a bit like fading western powers bitching about the rise of china

anyway I followed the ‘lads’ a little in my UK years. Don’t underestimate the ‘toons’ capacity to screw things up

Yeah we’ve all been there when we’ve mucked up when we couldnt have. But its entirely different kettle of fish now.

I don’t expect us to challenge for titles in the next 5 years, just want to see the club run well and see improvement year to year in that time. Big thing for me in the short term is the investment in the academy and what they can do about improving what is already an iconic stadium. Imagine if they considered building a new one elsewhere. And of course staying up this season.

The whole FFP issue is going to be interesting going forward. One thing Ashley did do well and (no doubt was part of his plan to sell the club) was to ensure if he did get a buyer with means, the investments that could be made would be significant given the club’smlosses were fairly minimal in football terms.

Can’t say the performance or result is in any way surprising. The defending for Spurs first two goals especially was absolutely atrocious.

Players out of position, no striker on the pitch to finish that match, long balls forward to the wee Scotsman…

Bruce has to go and completely new staff appointed this week.

Jan can't come any quicker.

The media narrative seems to be that he did a good job to keep us up last season.

Joe Willock’s ridiculous run of form kept us up.

Good riddance.

Anyway looking forward now, looks like Paulo Fonseca is the bookies favourite and he’s rumoured to be on Tyneside. Don’t know a great deal about him but he did coach Shakhtar Donetsk for a few years, a club from a region torn apart by war who haven’t been able to play in their own city since forever.

Bookies have Foncesca as the favourite. I’ll be honest I know nothing about him

Anyone know much?

Howe or Favre I’d think. Depends if they go down the Ralf Rangnic route. If they were smart they’d appoint the latter before the former but they’re out of time

The Emery debacle was somewhat embarrassing for the club but I think in the end they have the right man in Howe.

His attacking philosophy fits NUFC and hopefully we see some of our attacking players benefit. Fitness will be an issue for the next little while though.

Need a result tonight going into a string of winnable matches. Can't afford to fall any further away from 17th.

Tipping a 1-0 win with Joelinton scoring a late winner off his arse.

Was resigned to relegation a month ago, now I think we’ll be fine.

Tripper may be our best signing in years. Absolute star

Burn looked good and we haven’t even unleashed Bruno yet.

The Joelinton redemption arc has been amazing too.
Trippier fractured bone his foot though. Fingers crossed

Huge loss. Looks like a 5th metatarsal. Luckily not a navicular but still a few months out you’d think. Good news is we have Targett on loan and Dummett is back to full fitness. Not at Tripper’s level but at least we have some decent defenders available

Can’t believe how much Joelinton has improved as a midfielder. His stats against Villa were insane
