what are u smirking at Lukey?

Just because you don't remember him, does not mean that he is less worthy. Club Roomie was closed to most posters (for the discussion it was). The Troy Luff Board opens it up for more discussion, whilst you still have your Roomies threads (and now you can create your own).

I really don't see the issue. If not for the Troy Luff Stand, it could have been the Kelly Gang.

Luff was a club cult hero.

Soph, just because you are too young to remember someone doesn't mean they didn't have an extraordinary impact on the club and its supporters. I bet you hardly remember Paul Kelly, does that mean we should forget about him too?

HEY HOLD UP dont go jumping down my throat

I didnt say we should forget him and that he didnt have an impact on the club i just think we could have come up with a better name for the thread

ie: Paul Kelly or Tony Lockett

It's more the fact that he was a cult hero, not that he was an amazingly good player, like Kel or Lockett.

I am with soph on this, it should be called the Michael Phelps stand, he is very buff.

I mean that is what footy is all about surely

A history lesson for young Sophie,

Luffy was a cult hero for many reasons:
- Delisted and redrafted twice and when on to play 155 games.
- Copped a fair share of Rocket's rockets, perhaps unfairly at times.
- Loved to take a speccie, was a great mark.
- Was versatile to play down back or up forward.
- Tended to do some freaky things and yet stuff up the simple ones.

I agree. I like the idea of having an off-topic board for all Swans posters, not just the roomies girls...it's a shame the roomies discussion has a habit of taking over most of the threads on here. At least with the thread tags you know if it's going to be a 'roomies' thread or not.

And Luffy was a cult hero...I didn't start following the swans till the later years of his career but he was a genuine 'utility'-type player, played as a backman but pinch-hit up forward, I think Eade even put him into the ruck a couple of times!

Luffy was an inspiration for young kids to persist persist persist.

Finally made it at the club and is a Swans legend.
Luffy was a legend. Just ask him he will tell you himself. He is my favouite ever swans player. I actually met him the preseason before he debuted at a sports thing and loved him since then.

Sounds like there could have been a little more consultation about the changes perhaps? I brought my own beer and eats, but I still feel like a gatecrasher. Luff does seem like an odd name choice for an area of the board that seemed to attract people for whom he has no meaning.

(and don't screw with Broooooooooooooooce fans man!)

The name is in honour of the sign that was on display on the interchange bench in the late 90's "The Troy Luff Stand"

Luffy was a legend, never the most talented player on the park, but made the most of what he had, and never gave up

He is also the only Swans player, past or present, that I am aware of that has posted on this very site
