Not the best episode imo

I don't care much for the dialogue when it isnt directly moving the plot forward (just coz it seems so poorly written most of the time). The long scene with both Sasha and Rosita was a little painful

I guess I just don't rate Angela Kang as a writer. She's written some of the worst eps in the show's run, remember 'Still' (the Daryl and Beth bottle episode)

Some people complain that several characters are underdeveloped. Such scenes can do them wonders.

The slow burn and filler scenes/episodes has been a part of this show since the very beginning. I don't get why people complain about it. It's not non-stop action. It's never claimed to be.

Personally thought it was a very weak episode with several moments that just makes no sense.

Two main ones being Daryl and Maggie thinking two seconds after the guy has left the cellar that they should start chatting away.
Second being Rosita and Sasha deciding that they would go into the compound after only being in the warehouse for all of a few hours, of shit we missed a shot at Negan, no point waiting this out further for another shot, let's storm the gates. Did they not come prepared for at least a few day wait?

So th timeline since the outbreak is supposed to be less than two years yet Rosita has tagged along with all these guys and learnt all these great skills (yeah detonate a bomb...no problem). Plus all that time with Abraham and Eugene. **** off. Her anger/ rage seems so forced. Her 'speech' and whole character are ridiculous

I thought he looks the part of a conniving toady.
I'm willing to give him a chance because he didn't dob in Ethan Hawke and let him fly to space.

I think Eugene over the walkie talking about checking out buildings brought that about

Well that makes some sense I suppose, Eugene can be hard to understand at times, however surely the buildings surrounding them would have been checked thoroughly. Still think it was a massive leap from sniping Negan to running and gunning, also quite stupid.

I really hate that Rosita character.

Personally, I have no issues with the slow burn. I like the build up.

What I have an issue with is when a huge chunk of the build up is dedicated to uninteresting characters or relationship dynamics [Heath (who?) and Tara, Rosita and Sasha, Carl and Enid, Rick and Michonne isn't a well-liked pairing, Aaron, Gregory...]. Too much of the season has been like that in my view.

Another fairly meaningless episode all round, most of it concerning Rosita and Sasha on a mission that we all know from the beginning was bound to fail, so that killed off any tension that may have been generated.

As someone pointed out earlier, the sooner Rosita gets the chop the better, she's already gotten one member of their group killed through her stupidity, yet is still just as reckless as ever, a walking time bomb just waiting to go off.

Increasingly appears like a show running on fumes now, with a lot of padding thrown in just to draw it out.

The sad part is there doesn't need to be padding. They still have a lot of engaging characters with great stories to tell, new and old.

Rick is always good value, even if he is annoying at stages. Maggie's role has been cut down but she's an engaging character when allowed to shoulder a storyline other than, "Omg protect the pregnant girl!!!!!!" Michonne's cool when she's in her element, but again she has been taken out of it. There's a lot to work with with Daryl. Carol is my favourite character but they even actively took her out of situations when she's at her best for only vague reasons. Eugene, Morgan, Dwight, Jesus, Ezekiel, Simon, to some extent Gabriel...I know he's not exactly universally liked, but I like Negan and see great potential with some sort of backstory there as well. There's heaps there to work with.

Meanwhile you have boring dynamics and characters taking up far too much screen time. Rick and Michonne has clearly only been introduced as a segue to the emotional fluctuation/coping mechanisms of one of them when the other inevitably dies (although it's still nowhere near as bad as Abe and Sasha). Tara, Sasha, Rosita, Carl, Enid, Gregory, Aaron, Heath...all of them are in my mind bland and uninteresting and yet have taken up a huge chunk of the season's side-stories. Why? None of them have really progressed the story at all and they aren't strong enough characters to lead their own stories. The less said about the garbage people the better.

I'm a fan of Negan and the Saviours, but they really wrote themselves into a corner with them.

The whole of next season should be based on Negan from the start of the outbreak to where he was introduced to the show.

God no.

Well it would be a good excuse to cut the ties with this show though.

It won't happen, however we will get one or two episodes based solely on Negan's origin.

That's one of the shows biggest problems IMO, far to many characters who have no real appeal yet seem to get a lot of screen time, last night's episode being a prime example with the bloody annoying Rosita and the bland Sasha front and center for most of the show.

Personally I think there are only four that I would be sorry to see go, and that's Rick, Carol, Michonne and Daryl, and they seem to be consigned to bit parts a lot of the time this season.

So pretty much agree with all you say (except for Negan, the sooner he's gone the better as far as I'm concerned) the show drops about ten notches whenever he's on screen hamming it up, hopefully we only have to endure him for two more weeks.

I too noticed it, but time is short in terms of recording time so they had to :D

Yeah, good point about the characters development I guess. I didn't consider that. I guess its just that Rosita has been around for like 4 seasons and they're just doing it now. Can only assume her death is imminent

I also have no problem with the slow burn episodes. They can be the best kinds of episodes when done properly. I'm not one of those fans who tunes in just for the zombie kills, etc -- that's all secondary

But is it confirmed she actually died doing it. Is she 100% dead?

If she did, at least she died doing what she loved.*

oh wait you said padding

Talking of gay. Did they say Jesus had a boyfriend?

The bible-thumpers who raged over the gay kiss on the show are going to lose their shit when they realise that 'Jesus' is gay. :D

There's nothing wrong with slow-burn episodes, it's just that they're dishing up more and more awful ones of late.

That was ridiculous. I was honestly half expecting someone to come back in another example of the writers manufacturing drama by having characters make incredibly dumb decisions.

I'm not going to crap on the show as for the most part I have really enjoyed it. But now I've seen their Home & Away style storyline rinse & repeat with a new villian/natural disaster each season run through a few times now there's not much more keeping me interested.
I've been away so am currently 3 or 4 eps behind & am thinking it might be a good time to just bail altogether.
It's just a shame & pretty disappointing that something I was so invested in has just fizzled so poorly.

Enid : I've got fresh veggies.
Savior wearing beanie : Stop. They're vegetables. Use the whole word.

Incredible that someone got paid to write this shit.
