Wasn’t lively viewed as the best US prospect a couple of years before the draft and then dropped down boards in his draft year for mavs to then take him a little higher than expected?

He was the number one ranked high school player in the country but had a pretty forgettable one and done with Duke (combination of injuries and role). The most points he had in college was 13 or something - he's had that more than a few times in the NBA already. Playing with Luka probably helps.

Without wishing to trivialise the work that Exum has obviously been doing, his play this season puts Ben Simmons' career in even starker contrast.

Exum couldn't shoot a lick. But at least he wasn't afraid to try.
