I don't have an opinion on the message itself - but it would suggest to me we're finally done with feeling the need to apologise for the Gear Years of late 2000s (stuff like "A new breed" was basically "we're really sorry guys" in marketing speak).

How so?

We have seen Freo go down the track of prioritising local rivalry higher than winning a flag. It got them nowhere. It took firstly Mark Harvey and then Ross Lyon to change this dumb culture. A slogan is public display of a club's intended culture.

This is yet another eyebrow raising decision our current board has made.

Hardly an over reaction.
