The Herald Sun has put together suggested SOO sides for Vic, WA, SA and the Allies. Teams are picked to play this weekend, so current form taken into account and injured players are left out. This is WA's side:

B: David Swallow (GCS) 107.89, Eric Mackenzie (WCE) 68.44, Darren Glass (WCE) 62.43

HB: Chris Yarran (Car) 84.75, Michael Johnson (Frem) 98.44, Heritier Lumumba (Coll) 86.67

C: Stephen Hill (Frem) 91.25, Matt Priddis (WCE) 105.67, Bradley Hill (Haw) 85.33

HF: Mitch Duncan (Gee) 99.44, Lance Franklin (Syd) 81.12, Harley Bennell (GCS) 88.33

F: Dean Cox (WCE) 97.44, Josh Kennedy (WCE) 78.33, Mark LeCras (WCE) 90.5

R: Aaron Sandilands (Frem) 116.56, Nat Fyfe (Frem) 120, Jaeger O’Meara (GCS) 103.11

I/C: Harry Taylor (Gee) 69.89, Jack Darling (WCE) 83.11, Hayden Ballantyne (Frem) 71.12, Chris Masten (WCE) 87.75

8 Eagles make it in: Kennedy, Darling, LeCras, Cox, MacKenzie, Glass, Masten and (ahem) Priddis.

Thoughts? I'd probably have Naitanui over Cox, and not sure at all about David Swallow in the back pocket. Jamie Bennell would have a claim to that spot based on current form.

Really need a list of eligible WA players.

Darling gets in over JK who aside from beating up on the hapless GWS has been ordinary.

Swallow not in the backline, on the ball, he's playing really well. Not sure who into the backpocket, possibly Bennell i guess. Priddis to the bench.

2 talls and a crumbing forward on the Interchange is stupid if you're picking a team to play an actual game. Ballantyne out as he's not playing well and offers nothing off the interchange.

Glass has been a pillar for our club but probably overtaken by Taylor, MacKenzie and Johnson and can't really justify four tall defenders.

What are the numbers next to the names ??:drunk:

C: Hill Conniglio Bennell
HF: Darling Franklin Duncan
F: Lecras Kennedy Garlett

Ignoring Duncan three times in 2009 is looking a bit silly.

Victoria just goes so deep. We have the top end talent and on our day for sure but the depth is so strong for the Vics.
I would argue we don't have the top talent. We go okay for KPP's but pick the 5 best midfielders in the comp.

off the top of my head without thinking
Abblett, Pendles, Dangerfield, Selwood, Watson.

All Vics, we would get destroyed in the midfield.

Would probably need to think about it more but i reckon the best non vic mid would be Beams and best WA probably Fyfe. We would need omeara, bennell and swallow to become guns to be a chance against the vics.

My Best Team when fit.

Yeo Mackenzie Johnson
Yarran Taylor Lumumba
S. Hill A Swallow D Swallow
H Bennell Franklin Darling
Walters Kennedy Lecras

Sandilands Fyfe O'meara

Int: Naitanui, Ballantyne, Priddis Sub: Masto/ B Hill

Cox + Glass letting the next generation come through :)

The best rucks by a mile, The best KPD's, possibly the best KPF's Just a weak midfield. Hmm sounds familiar...

Polly Farmer was born in WA and played 5 games for Victoria

Jason Dunstall was born in Queensland and played 3 games for Victoria

See what I'm getting at?
Polly Farmer played state league football for Victoria and the VFL. Polly Farmer played State of Origin for WA. If I remember correctly it was where you were born or played your junior footy.
