It’s Gen X stupid. Boomers have had our time and are moving on.

By all your logic things for younguns should be getting better. They arent

Only Putin, Xi and trump remain as boomers in power

Generally there’s a chasm in attitudes between those born 1946 and those in 1964.

So is Boomer an attitude not an actual generation? That makes more sense.

Australian PMs

Albo. Boomer 1963
Scomo Gen X 1965
Turnbull Boomer 1954
Abbott Boomer 1957
Gillard Boomer 1961
Rudd Boomer 1957
Howard Silent 1939
Keating Boomer 1944
Hawke silent 1929
Fraser silent 1930
Whitlam ???? 1916

Looks like we are going to get 4 x Gen X PMs in a row after Albo

... I mean... that's three of the most powerful men on earth, in charge of three of the most influential and economically strongest nations on earth. "Only" is carrying an awful lot of weight there.

I’m pretty late boomer. In some ways more aligned with Gen X attitudes.

But the boomer (like the Karen and woke) tag is pretty lazy these days. ‘Everything I don’t like’

Much like being a Karen is a state of mind, so too is being a Boomer.

You could be outside the boomer generation but still be a 'boomer' when it comes to behaviour and attitudes.

What's the cut off or demarcation from boomer to Gen x?

1964 apparently. But of course those born around 64 are similar in lived experience

For mine, oil and employment shocks around 1975 mean anyone born after around 1960 did not have it as easy as mainstream Boomers when becoming adults

There'd be a pretty big gap between those who bought houses up to around the mid 90s and those who bought later, the sweet spot looks to have been buying pre-87, then to a lesser extent pre-96. People buying then are likely to have been selling into a more recent market with the insane price increases - if they've sold yet - and would have a fairly poor understanding of the challenges of people under 35 today.

Even people in know in their 50s currently are pretty different to those in their mid 40s and under in terms of life experiences. People under about 45 are likely tech natives, having grown up alongside computers becoming mainstream, are likely to have bought houses post GFC where that growth had already accelerated drastically since the mid 90s, those are some pretty major differences in life experiences.

For a number of reasons, there's a clear difference between early Gen X and the latter Gen X (aka. Xennials), but I love and accept us us all (except for ScoMo apparently, who can **** right off!).
