Thomas returns to face the Cats (Team Named)

Anyone else think we are one tall/key short in our foward line???

We have Trav and Jack, but i think we are one key short and are going in too small

Is N.Brown going to go foward, or the better option of playing L.Brown in the ruck when West is in there and move Josh foward...

I really hope we play Rocca, we need him for the overall balance of our team, even if he gets 7-odd touches and 2 goals, it's enough.

If Rocca does come in, I will actually be confident that we can get the business done

Apparently, Ablett MAY have picked up an ankle injury. Pure speculation.

The Cats have named a bloody quick side. I would've thought Toovey would've been well suited. But his turnovers will hurt more this week than others, due to quality opposition. I really hope Rocca comes in for Leigh Brown, he just adds absolutely nothing to the side. He'll be nothing but a liability (would love to be proven wrong and for him to kick 6 ).

I'm really worried about the pace factor though. We'd want to be on our game pressure wise.

Rocca would not be a smart inclusion into the side at all... he is not upto match fitness. He should not play. let me say it agin he is not upto match fitness and should NOT play. He will play less than 60% game time and have little impact. he will also cost us with the run of Geelongs players. He can not be expected to just come in and play like he did for us 2 years ago. DONT DO IT COLLINGWOOD!!!!

Pretty good team, and do share something of Franks concerns about the forward line. Scarlett on Trav and Taylor on Janthony, leaves only Brown as another tall and Josh for 35% of the time.

Still, failry competitive.

Slightly surprised with that team. Thought it would be a good game to play Toovey, in my opinion he's our best negating player and would've had plenty of opportunities for that tomorrow night.

Malthouse must rate Dick very highly ... getting a few promising touches in the 2nd half of a big win against Melbourne will be a lot different to playing against the stronger bodies of Geelong.

Leigh Brown has to try and use his body to intimidate Blake and West. If he makes a contest of it in the ruck Josh should have them beaten around the ground.

On Rocca, I definitely don't think it's the right game for him to come back in. His lack of match fitness will be exploited by Scarlett. Also, if we get beaten convincingly it will be a huge mental hurdle for the team to overcome knowing that as far as selection goes we've pretty much shown our cards (bar Rusling). If we get beaten without Rocca, there will be comfort in the fact that if we play them again later in the season he might be able to make a difference, even if in reality that difference isn't huge.

Bryan would've been far better for this. His pressure around the ground is superb too.

Rocca may be there solely to drag Harlett away from Trav and Jack Angry. If he can play 80% as well as he did last year when we flogged the cats, job done. Just hope it dosn't blow up in our face.

Finally common sense prevails..
The weather is going to be dry..
23 and sunny just morning clouds however i still dont think Rocca will come in for Dick or Brown. Bit upset at this but Brown will really need to step up, if he wants to keep his spot, Rocca and a second ruckmen will be back inthe coming weeks no doubt.

You're right, it's just I can't bear to see him play because of the mistakes he'll make. I wanted Wood to come in, but it's fair enough they're making him earn it.

The difference here might be in quantity. A shocking blaze from Bryan at least gives it to Geelong 40 metres away, a Brown turnover a free on the spot. On the other hand, Brown doesn't get it so much, so less mistakes to pay the price of.

I'm being facetious here. They are not giant killers, either of them, but a necessary evil. Bryan has had his good games and Brown has been servicable.

how many more chances is ben johnson going to get

hes been good in one game all year including pre season. surely this must be his last chance before being dropped for some games in the 2s

good to see dick kept in, our smalls need to fire. no harley no hunt, scarlett and taylor having the bulk of the load. we need to make them worry about more thing than just their direct opponent. lets hope our mids get on top a bit to apply pressure to their backs

I like the ins vs outs compared to the NAB Cup GF side.
Lot of experience in, a lot of inexperience out. Geelong really exposed our kids that night. This is a much better side.

Out: Dawes, McCarthy, Toovey, Wellingham, Wood, Goldsack, Sidebottom, Reid, Bryan
IN: Shaw, O'Brien, Fraser, Dick, L Brown/Rocca

Personally I do not rate Dick at all. To me he just seems like another Egan/Cole, with the only positive being he wasnt a high draft pick. I would love to see another midfielder in McCarthy/Stannley picked ahead of him so that one of our true forwards in Didak, Davis or Thomas can spend more time in the forward line where they are most suited and more dangerous. That and I would also like to see L Brown exchanged for Rocca, but Im sure so would the Collingwood coaching staff, so there must be a reason for it.

Happy to see Dick get another run after a long lay-off and some encouraging signs against Melbourne. His pace and skill will be important going forward particularly his pace in shutting down defenders running the ball out of defence.

The run-with tagging match-up(s) will be interesting against the Carts, no Toovey, no Cook, Maxy probably gets a run with roll, (MM could spring a shock\surprise by bringing in Corrie to play a run with roll.

Would like to see Ried given an opportunity at CHB at some point very soon.

Brad Dick plays with a lot more enthusiasm and intencity than Chris Egan ever did - plus his skills are better both offensively and defensively than Egan or Cole.

I hear Rooke and Taylor our Out for the Cats

Cole, defensively, was a gun.

Only proper back pocket we've had this decade.
Was hard as nails when he first started as well.

One tackle/bump on leigh brown at telstra dome was awesome
