Elton has been given a few shots so has arnot they're not up to it yet, BTW there's a 39 year still running around for the bombers after 20 years that looks like you could push him over with one finger.
What, he has played 1 game and wasn't ready in that game, which would be around the same for Beany.

He's not that different in body shape to Joe Daniher. Daniher has had 20 games under his belt and is only just starting to put some decent performances together.
Liam has a long way to go. I wouldn't be debuting him against Sydney. No point.
Yep but he isn't the contesting marking player the Joe is. He has skill but to use this he needs fitness, of which he doesn't have right now. I say try Elton in that role.

If your not a first rounder at RFC, expect to get no opportunity. Regardless of form, size and opposition. Always an excuse. Other clubs blood these talented kids, and find a gem or two each season. Not here at Richmond

Correction:

If you're not a first rounder, or a player picked from another club, expect to get no opportunity...

Time is right no matter what his age is, he's tall, wirey and athletic...he's ready to have a crack and we've got nothing to lose.

Yeah agree play him. We might even find he is better then Vickery and replace him long term :) Oh wait Hardwick would not like that would he.

Like many others I can't wait to see him start getting some games but have to agree, it's too soon. Given how little confidence the players seem to have these days, I'd rather hold off throwing him to the wolves until he's ready to make a real impact.

Plenty of players killing it at VFL and not getting a senior call up for teams all over Melbourne. MCBean, tends to rove a lot of his goals at the moment, I can't see that being a feature of his game at AFL with his lack of size at the moment.

weighs 93kg atm, needs maybe another 5 kg's before can muscle it with even the smallest defenders in the AFL

Jack is 93 kg........

Doesn't need to wrestle just needs to lead out the pocket and use his ground level skills. Still would only play him against younger teams like St kilda.

problem is, the Bean is much taller, so the weight is more bone and the muscle is a lot more distributed.
But i agree, only should go up against the younger sides if any ATM

I'd say it works more to his advantage being that weight currently for his height as i'm not sure, if his ground level skills will be so good as he fills out. Hopefully they will though.

He did take a strong contested grab on lead on weekend so i'm not sure his weight is exactly accurate as he did look very skinny still in that nab cup game and the practise matches (vfl ones) but on the weekend, he seemed quite a lot bigger.

Heres and interesting comparison:

Before being drafted (really stick like)

He definitely is looking a lot more filled out, but i fear unless he puts on a bit more size (nothing insane, getting to like 100 kg), he will too easily be pushed out of a contest at AFL level. His skills at ground level are great, but he is 200+ cm tall and unless he can be a tall marking player, i don't believe he will be fulfilling his potential. I hope he and the club find a nice balance between the two (marking tall and crumbing) which will undeniably lead him to be a very good player.

We do have a gem in him though, hopefully will only continue to get better

At 202cm he needs to provide a chop out in the ruck.

I also have a concern about his toughness, haven't seen it yet. I reckon he is a project player and is miles away from a regular contributor at senior level.

He's been ready for a year now it's time to blood him we've got nothing to lose.

Love your enthuiasm, TB!

But I'm with the majority here. McBean has not earned a call up. He can be worse than Vickery. In the pre-season versus Melbourne, McBean got one kick, and went at 0% efficiency. Against Melbourne.

Nothing to lose? All players are human. McBean's confidence would be flushed in a single game if he got toweled up.

Give him one game, maybe two, but against teams with no backline - like St Kilda and Brisbane.
