most people are doing the right thing. The infections are occurring mostly from the quarantine hotels

to blame an entire state again is moronic since people have been in lockdown for months , myself included but no the anti victoria hate brigade just wants to pour their hate onto the forum because they lack the intelligence to understand that it’s a global issue and not a state issue

my daughter lives in Qld and I haven’t seen her all ******* year..so fu** off with this idiotic hatred of a state mentality ******* bullshit

You sir are projecting YOUR issues. I couldn't care less about your private life.

We do bag the NRL but boy jeez they have been so much more proactive that we have been!

The Storm were told a week ago to get out of Melbourne, and start subbing (forget where it is, might be Albury).

Meanwhile we sat twirling our thumbs and now we have this entire mess...

Because Victoria runs the AFL.

Also I’d just like to make a point in regards to the AFL statement they just released. THIS IS NOT BEING AGILE AND FLEXIBLE, THIS IS BEING REACTIONARY. Agile and flexible would have been seeing the data get progressively worse and then proactively coming up with a fixture to accomodate. Now they’re stuck with unworkable fixtures for Rd 6 and 7 and Gold Coast having to have a 14 day quarantine if Rd 5 stays as is.

Depends if Geelong is counted as part of Victoria. You may be allowed to travel in and out to Avalon.

The Storm have moved to the Sunshine Coast (they have a training hub up there) and negotiated with the Queensland government late last week. Storm originally left for NSW on Wednesday (as a replacement for a home game in Melbourne) and now will play home games in Brisbane until further notice. They've even got approval for families to join them.

It’s really simple for the AFL to do move all the Melbourne clubs into hubs even move the Grand final to WA or SA.
Yeah the cost of moving the clubs is less than cancelling the season. Also if players aren't willing to go then **** off no pay rest of year then

Have you been reading what your fellow Eagles supporters have been posting? And you're lecturing me?

This should be a discussion about looking at the hotspots (like the suburb you live in) rather than the parochial BS that's occurring. There's a lot of Eagles supporters posting about how F*d the Victorian situation is--- more than Victorian based supporters combined.

To be fair this is a build up of decades of inequality. not just the latest Vic-centric debacle.

That's the one. Was Albury the first time, you are 100% correct. They will have all games in Brisbane they aint playing home games in Melbourne this season

10 days ago, us Victorians got admonished by dad Dan Andrews about the concerning spike in Victoria.

AFL chose not to act, and now finds itself in a position where teams can not travel to Victoria or even play Victorian teams on neutral grounds.

AFL has brought this on itself due to it's own inaction.

AFL clubs are in stronger lockdown than the rest of us. this was run by the various state govts. They were ready to put 8 essendon players in lockdown if there was a true positive test.

In the circumstances theyv ehad huge patience. QLD WA and SA teams have played each other exclusively in this part. if the stae governments are being so reasonable, why couldn't those teams play each home and away up till now? they are 'clean' states?

You guys want to place the future of the years season in the hands of these states completely. They are totally fickle.
Much less risk to the competition by moving all teams to victoria.

But I'm not actually suggesting that

To be fair this is a build up of decades of inequality. not just the latest Vic-centric debacle.

But there's a time & a place to express frustration about inequity--- using the Victorian COVID data to "celebrate" a win over the nasty #viccos is just a bit sad.

NRL in NSW is 20 times more parochial than the AFL in victoria

Thats the thing though - cant speak for other states but a week ago your premier said the biggest problem is people told they have been in contact with a positive case and to isolate for 14 days - arent doing it.

they are going to dinners with extended families and spreading it.

In Victoria if you have contact with a positive case you can still play AFL football on the weekend. Little wonder the other states are bucking when they see those positives spiking.

They could but the whole schedule is now screwed, the AFL was expecting to get FIFO rights for South Australia from July 20th which is why the Adelaide teams were playing in Melbourne round 7, but that’s completely off the table now. So you’d either have to relocate every team to Melbourne, or move every team out of Melbourne now.

Watch the AFL send every team to Melbourne.
But any opportunity to call Cotchin, Riewoldt & Dangerfield a flog has to be taken---- right? ;)

Maybe so, but it didn't stop them being proactive and getting Melbourne out of their state. It is called being smart in a changing climate. We bagged them for starting early, and yet again they are making the right moves and meanwhile we are sounding like a bunch of Homer Simpsons at the AFL.

Being flexible doesnt mean being proactive, it means responding to situations as they arise.

But if they play Geelong they have to quarantine under Queensland government rules as Geelong have played in melbourne in the last 14 days

Will depend if Geelong is counted as part of Melbourne. They would have directives on this.

Season will be cancelled. The AFL's immediate answer was to put the Sydney teams into a Queensland hub. Yes, that's right. Teams that are quite able to fly in and fly out enter a hub while Victorian teams that have restrictions do nothing to help the game.

Source? sounds like they are flying in and out

Once again, if the AFL had some common sense foresight they would have varied the opponents in the first 3 weeks with a good mix of Victorian v Non Victorian teams then it would've made it easier now to have a month of Victorian v Victorian matches and Non Victorian v Non Victorian matches for a month.

But nope - gotta have those Vic "blockbusters" to start the season.

Wasnt that driven by WA and SA teams needing to go to qld?
