The shark situation is beyond out of control. It's not just the man eaters either, sharks are destroying recreational fishing, tourism our entire beach lifestyle in general. They are in plague proportions. In some localities the amount of fish lost to sharks makes the whole exercise of fishing an untenable fish kill. Those arguing sharks are the top of the food chain and a sign of a healthy ecology don't understand how an ecology works.

If you want to swim safely you swim in swimming pools, if you want to swim or surf in the ocean you take your chances of being eaten by a shark.

Stay in the pool if you don't want to be eaten by a shark, don't blame the shark if you go into their territory and they eat you, you're asking for trouble.

Has increased exponentially with Marine Parks cutting out fishing (commercial and recreational) and an increasing abundance of food there

That said, your in their world so no
Leave them be

Better yet have a long hot shower before swimming
Everyone deserves a hot meal

The second article you posted says the population has just gone back to pre fishing levels. Its not abnormally high.

With the amount of water recreation in WA its no surprise these things happen. There's plenty of other dangerous creatures in the ocean too we cant control them all.

It's fascinating to compare the culling of Sharks to say Brumbies in Victoria.

Should be some real in depth science behind any decision to do anything. Not using anecdotes and not letting emotions get in the way.

One noted shark expert says a person is 300,000 times more likely to get COVID via the delta variant than to be attacked by a shark.

If only COVID was a problem for sharks, they would be wearing masks then and shark attacks wouldn't happen, hard to bite someone with a mask on.

Channel seven already planning a true crime mini series putting Ivan Milat in the area. I don't think they have a leg to stand on, like the guy missing.

I've heard they are doing shark spotting tours off the coast of WA now, not many people are doing it though as it costs an arm and a leg.

Mobile phone footage from the boys who witnessed it, released on telegram.

Being amutuers first cut is pretty ruff, but the cameraman has a sharp eye.
