Get him off Channel Nine, get him off the Sunday Footy Show, nothing against the guy, but surely he's passed it completely.

It's embarrasing to watch, embarrasing for the network, embarrasing to himself probably and it's like watching a train wreck when Billy Brownless and Tony Jones get stuck into him. All he does is bumble and mumble his way through his little bits with Billy and Tony butting in and making stupid comments.

surely it's time to get him off

isn't he about 100 years old now?

You're not serious are you? He's the funniest part of the show. I literally tune in especially to see his parts.

That bit with Daniel Giansiracusa "why don't you get a proper surname" was painful and Gia looked uncomfortable. ANyone else had done that they would have got their pink slip that day. Lou may yet.

Senility is arriving. Let him move on before he gets really embarrassing.

So he did a joke about Gia's surname.Just imagine if Sam Newman did that same joke. The dykes on bikes brigade [whatever the AFL chicks call themselves] would be up in arms and be organising protests and writing letters to the AFL and newpapers and USC and Timmy Lane's offspring would be writing stories about it.Some unfunny old coot, who should've been retired years ago, does it and you won't read anything about it.

If he wants to stay, he stays. I rekon he's earned at least that.

I cracked up when TJ asked him if he had any words for that Craigebourne team and Lou's reply stop playing.

The bloke is 85 (??) and has lost his wife recently. I would imagine apart from family, the Footy Show is keeping him going. Remember this man is the Footy Show and convinced Nine to run the Thursday Night edition.

To the OP, your comments prove you lack an understanding to the rich history of Melbourne Television. TV communities, moreso the pioneering days, are generally tight knit, legends don't just get cast aside when convenient. Would you be the Nine Executive game enough to pull the pin?

I agree.....but there will come a point where a decision has to be made. Would hate to see him deteriorate to the point he is embarrassing himself and becomes a subject of ridicule. There are times where the panel members (perhaps unwittingly) get close to the line on this already.

He already is the subject of ridicule on that show...but Lou loves it...its the show and people on it that keep him going. I read an intereview some time back after the sad passing of his wife...she loved and supported Lou's passion for footy her whole life and Lou said it couldn't have been easy for her. He said after losing the love of his life if he didn't have footy he didn't know what he'd do. Not time for him to go just yet.

happy for him to stay...but it is a little sad. I feel like we're all counting down the final days of a legend and that makes me feel uncomfortable.
Agree ,but for the 10 minutes or so he is on air is the thing he looks forward to each week ,after all his contribution to the game ,i believe he deserves his 10 minutes each week,as long as he is up to it .My father who like myself hated collingwood always said i hate lou the most WHY because he always played well against the saints .What is often overlooked with Lou is his excellent playing career

Sure Lou is well and truly passed it and his segments on the show are a little bit cringeworthy, but in an industry where the only concerns are rating figures and money it is good to see some sentiment left. Leave the old codger on, he ain't doing any harm.

It is a bit cringeworthy but, believe it or not, I reckon Tony and Billy are looking out for his best interests. They seem to know where to draw the line.

He's as tough as old boots and can still dish it out and take it.

Ch 9 are to be applauded for giving him a role to play.

I remember reading (on here probably) an incident where Lou got hit by a ball when Billy was supposed to be minding him. Billy was a bit upset it happened.

And to the people saying that he is the subject of ridicule on the show now..., wasn't he always?? I recall previously they had him in the big chair behind the panel and he'd just talk when he felt like it.

I think there is a difference when you take the piss out of someone who is capable of firing back.... and Lou often did. Now he's an easy target. I'm not saying he should be removed from the show right now, but there will come a time when they will need to make that decision. Personally I think it's not that far away.

KEEP LOU ON EVEN IF HE IS ON LIFE SUPPORT, CANT WAIT TILL WE START HAVING PLAYERS OF ASIAN AND AFRICAN DESCENT..Lou's 1950s bigotry will be hilarious at the handball comp.

bertocchi hams are class.

Is this a piss take??
