With Roughy & Fev both kicking 8 today i was wondering if anyone knows of any other games when this has happened?

I know there was a Geelong v Essendon game in 93 when Ablett kicked 14 & Salmon kicked 10.

i know the game is a totally different game to the one that i fell in love with 20 years ago. and i still love the game now. but i think it's disappointing that we marvel at 2 forwards kicking 8 goals in a game.

for lockett and dunstall, 8 goals was a pretty standard day!

i don't remember the year, i don't remember the round (although it was late in the year). in separate games that were both taking place on a saturday nite, one kicked 16 and the other kicked 17... ahhh, they halcyon days of the full forward...

2000 or 2001?

Carey kicked 10
LLoyd kicked 9

Unbelievable display of goal scoring. Especially Carey's left foot banana from the pocket and Lloyd's mid air kick from 35.

Here's another close one:

Footscray v St Kilda, Round 13, 1978 @ Western Oval

Kelvin Templeton kicked 15 for the Dogs, while his teammate Ian Dunstan kicked 7!

Interesting to note that while Dunstan kicked 139 goals in his career, he once kicked 4 goals in a game, but this was the only other time he ever managed to kick more than 3 goals in a game. Talk about being overshadowed in your biggest ever game!

Lockett kicked 16 once only. At the Western Oval against Fitzroy in round 19 1995. Not many night games there unless it was a legends game. On the same day, Dunstall kicked five in a losing team against the Saints.

Three years earlier Dunstall kicked 17 against Richmond during the day at Waverley. On the same DAY, Lockett kicked 10 for the Saints against the Crows.

Ah yes, I remember it well.

What I am finding is there are a few games where 2 players have scored 7 or more each, but only the odd game where 2 players have each scored 8, a mere handful of those being two players from the same team.

I'm guessing the Ablett/Salmon game is the only instance of 2 playing each kicking 9 or more goals in a game.

This is the full list as far as I can tell. It has been done 30 times now - I actually thought it might have been more frequent than this

Only once in the last 16 years.

Doubt we will se it happen many more times the way the games is played these days.

Interesting official stat for Sydney, since they did not have a team until the 80's. I am pretty sure Bob Pratt played all his footy for South Melbourne.
