How does my point fail? If anything it's just another example of the umpires' ineptitude and propensity to judge a player on the amount of times they got the ball rather than their effect on the game, hence why exceptional defenders like Matthew Scarlett get absolutely no credit where it is deserved.

In any case, Thomas has had a large influence over several big games of note, most recently the qualifying final against Adelaide where his work in the second half turned the game around. Being a Carlton supporter, though, I'd imagine September is the time you tune out of football and therefore missed his performance.

This is some funny stuff. Kicking the ball out in front of your teammate is considered a good kick, and that's what hodge did.

Yep, literally the only other player from that draft you would consider taking ahead of Murphy if you could pick again. Still, tough decision.

If he's in the best 1 or 2 from his draft, I don't see how you can bag him for being a sub-standard number 1 pick just because other drafts have been stronger.

If he was in another draft he probably wouldn't have gone number 1 but thats not his fault, nor Carltons - you pick from whats available
