Mystery Titanic Tourist Submarine Lost * Found as Debris

How long do you think they will keep looking for? I assume once they rule out a rescue they will move to recovery for a certain period? With the amount of interest in this story they might look for a while?

It took more than 70 years for divers to uncover the Titanic's resting place.

By my calculations, the Titan will never be found.

Bad news and some hope.

'The cold temperatures inside the sub, inducing a state of hypothermia, may also slow down the breathing.

Other experts have warned the oxygen supply was only one aspect, with question marks about the dispersal of carbon dioxide buildup. If the Titan has lost power or the batteries run out stopping the filtration of air, the men will have fallen unconscious and died of carbon poisoning.

“As levels of carbon dioxide build up, then it becomes sedative, it becomes like an anaesthetic gas, and you will go to sleep.”
Dr Ken Ledez, hyperbaric medicine expert at Memorial University in St John’s, Newfoundland, told the BBC.
...
Oil and gas magnate Oisin Fanning has been inside the Titan for two trips to the Titanic and said all would have been conserving their energy from day one and predicted the oxygen will “last a lot longer, they know their business”. He said there were so many drills and procedures around the OceanGate Expedition sub operations that “as a client, I got bored’’.'

Stuck in ghost nets.

'An Australian woman’s dream was to explore the Titanic. It almost ended in disaster

Ghost nets are fishing nets abandoned by trawlers that wend through the ocean, even at 4000-metre depths. They can be kilometres long and more than large enough to entangle whales.

“They are a serious threat to navigation both above and below the water.”

Ghost nets are just one of the hazards that could have caused the Titan submersible to go missing during its descent to the Titanic wreckage on Sunday night (AEST).

The last ping had Titan directly on top of the Titanic, I'm thinking it may have become snagged. There's a record of ten subs in the world that can handle the depth so there's probably more we don't know about, surely one will go down asap and have a look around.

If we could put a Russian sub in the area, I'd consider involvement. With two legit billionaires and a son on board, the balance likely pushing towards another billion, together with their collective knowledge it would be irresistible.

It's amazing to think they found the sub 'Pisces III' after it went missing in the 70s. It had only 12 mins of oxygen left after going missing for 72 or so hrs. What do people think of underwater technology like this? Has it advanced as quickly as other technology? Underwater recovery missions appear to be onee of the toughest things too achieve regardless of the tech.

Or the Russians were out looking for the aliens and the titan 5 werent tourists but representing the five eyes alliance. Boom!

Crazy stuff, I'm not sold on the carbon fibre hull. Seems that titanium is the way to go but weighs more, and OceanGate wanted to maximise passenger capacity so went with the lighter option.

Even just the appearance of the Titan looks low budget, the DSV below is certified to all ocean depths, and has gone to Challenger Deep (11km) several times, but only has room for two.
Even old mate James Cameron went to the Titanic 33 times on legit submersibles.
