Yeah, it's time to be heard.

Aside from the jumper issue itself, the site says the club is not taking e-mails from members seriously re: this - how desperately out of touch is that? In what line of work can you say "oop, just received a complaint. Ah, but it's an e-mail so that doesn't count". When you work in Brisbane Lions admin it seems that's exactly the policy. Might adopt that one as my office policy at work, reckon I'd be fired in a month.

I suspect it's convenient to ignore e-mails on it. Lord knows member's e-mails are absolutely littered with e-mailed communication from the club.

But anyway - if they want a letter, they'll be getting one. I'll spray a puff of perfume on it and send it by carrier pigeon if it means the board waking up on this.

Ignoring the issue was always going to lead down one road - and it's time to walk it.

I think you can actually obtain 'new car smell' scent these days. Would go with that. Although my personal preference would be for puppy breath.

We know people have been sending emails about the matter so surely they HAVE to make some kind of official reply and acknowledge the letters/emails...even if it isn't entirely positive, as I suggested in the guernsey thread. I wouldn't think it'd be practical to reply to each and every email though.

The club contacted me recently about my email and said they wanted to have a meeting. They set the meeting for the 31st of June so not long now.

I'm not sure we disagree Elixuh, but just to expand on my thoughts - the club seems to think the jumper isn't an issue, so I'm not prepared to assume that the volume of e-mails they are getting are such that it's impractical to reply to each. If the volume is at that point (ie. that it is impractical to reply), then that's just a further indictment on their not acting on those complaints.

The site is suggesting that hard copy letters be sent for a reason. If that is what it takes to get the club to actually address a concern of its members, that's tantamount to hopeless (on their part) IMO.

Oh no I don't disagree with you at all just enquiring/being annoying on a forum. Have the club released anything or we are taking silence as inaction/disregard? If so, I am still confident that the club will address the issue in time. I would prefer that they take their time and not be pressured into making an official statement as it may be that such a response will actually be negative (IMO)?

The moment the club changed the jumper they were flooded with emails/petitions all of which they ignored.

I'm not sure why you would think the club would feel pressured about making an official statement when they have had well over 3 years to prepare one.

None of this should be news to the club or the three or four people still at the club that made the initial decision and are still of the belief that their sole opinions far outweigh 20,000 plus members, not to mention non-members or lapsed members who also feel strongly about the issue.

If the group collect enough proxies the club may become more interested.

Whilst I agree with you. I'm only referring to current efforts and not petitions which were raised 3 years ago. I was disappointed last year after certain members on this forum compiled data at their own time and expense to no apparent avail. I will be disappointed at the END of the season if no acknowledgment has been made but wouldn't be surprised there isn't.

One thing I would like to know is whether there are any bars to changing the guernsey such as the status of various (current) design/manufacturer contracts (don't include lack of financial means as a bar)?

Yeah Elixuh, that's part of the problem- if the threads on this topic over the last few years are anything to go by, "financial restraints", "jumper contracts", "bigger fish to fry", and "maybe this year" usually get wheeled out to rationalise the club not addressing the issue.

The club has said none of these things.

I can understand people wanting to give admin a pass by assuming any of the above. But when they're not adequately responding to or communicating with its own members on an issue that I at least, think goes to the heart of our identity as a footy club - I'm not willing to leave it any longer.

Even IF the club can't change the jumper because of contracts/cost, they can still address the issue. This is about more than getting the old jumper back, it's about having a say on the issue and being heard. If the club came out and said Ok, we can see a lot of people want this, but our hands are tied until 2016, so it's something we will raise with the members then, i think that would be enough for most people (assuming they actually follow through with that). Do a members vote and then act.

I think we are all fairly confident that if a vote or poll was to happen, the old jumper would win. But TBH, i think the club knows that as well and is why they are avoiding the issue. Whether it's cost or hurt pride from a failed venture, they need to fix it and actually listen to the members, not simply tell us what they are doing. The board is meant to run the club on behalf of the members, it's our club and they should be representing us. Not ignoring us when we raise an issue, or telling us what they have decided to do. If they don't listen to the noise the members make, the next step is taking proxy votes, turning up at the AGM and making it happen. That will be a fairly hard thing to accomplish though.

great stuff , where do i sign

There's a sign up page on the website.

It's also strongly recommended that physical letters are written & posted to the club. Apparently the club doesn't have to take email & social media rants seriously. Letters they do so if you want to be heard let's all write them!

^ this.

The sign up page strongly hints that they're collecting names for a fight. I'm assuming if enough interest is there this could become an AGM issue with proxy votes.

If that's the case the more that sign up the better!!

The paddlepop is telling supporters of Fitzroy and the Bears they don't count. My dad stopped following the Lions because of it. It's time the board care and this is a great initiative.

I reckon the more people that write in the better. Even if not members but just disillusioned fans who walked away.

The more impact the club sees the better.

Write in & tell them his story!
