Today Tonight takes moral high ground

This is classic.

They're actually saying the rights things, Vlad/AFL are bullies putting up smoke screens, Brendan Gale behaving like a school girl.

Unfortunately it's Today Tonight saying it, so there's no credibility.
Except they forgot the bit that Wendell tested positive on game day but Cousins never tested positive.

Just a small thing, though.

Nothing surprising in that their facts are wrong. I'm talking about their overall criticism of Vlad and the AFL, and pointing out how much they like to bully to get their own way.

I was lucky enough to catch the start of the 'EXCLUSIVE!', whilst flicking through the channels. I liked the ending the best.

"The woman who sold the documents and a man, have been charged with the rarely used law of selling something that dosen't belong to them"

How do people watch this rubbish night after night?

'How to get your boss to give you the wage you deserve'

LOL.

"Hmmmm - I'm not touching that."

They are 100% correct. Regardless of the quality of their other stories they are right.

The players did wrong. THEY SHOULD BE TO BLAME. Seven have done little, if anything wrong.

They are trying to through the controversy onto seven in order to save themselves from the microscope.

Buying somebody's private medical records isn't wrong?

You sir, are a prize *******.

i like the story at the end about the gentleman who found 35k buried in his backyard and did the 'moral' thing and handed it in to the relevant auhorities instead of keeping it. irony at its best methinks

Are all the people here just angry because the documnets were medical documnets? My personal belief is there would be the same reaction had the "document" being a club memo or something afl would still react in the same way, its clear the AFL do want to protect its image the spotlight is well and truly on channel 7 its all over front page of the news but the important issue of players taking drugs barely gets a mentio.

They are BOTH big issues and they should BOTH be addressed!

You are dead wrong. In fact I cannot believe that you even posted the above garbage.

For those that are stupid read on: the public broadcast of a person's medical records is illegal. Full stop. ILLEGAL. It is also a serious and unforgivable breach of both a persons civil liberties as well as being a breach of the doctor/patient relationship that LEGALLY demands that a patients records be kept confidential.

When I go to a doctor, I expect that my records are kept completely confidential. It is my civil right. Has the world gone completely mad? To suggest that there should be any reason for C7 to have purchased these records and turned them into a news story and a grab for ratings is unbelievable.

many of the people 'outraged' (caro and hutchy for example) are the same people putting pressure on chad fletcher to release his confidentional medical records regards his alergic reaction in the us

The same people were making allegations and spreading the rumours about ben cousins before his dad was basically forced to admit his personal problems on national tv, after 5 straight days of every family member being stalked by the media.

The same people wanted to leak the names of the 3 interstate players who have returned two positive drug tests.

The fact that these are medical records is irrelevant to me, the fact is that the media, every part of it, has acted like vultures in reporting afl players personal issues.

It's a shame that it took this long before the players association stepped in. I would have black banned The Age and ch9 in march if I was in charge.

At least Chad Fletcher had the OPTION of deciding if he wanted his medical records made public.

The two players names in these medical reports obtained by Ch 7 in a somewhat dubious manner (for want of a better term) DID NOT HAVE THAT LUXURY.

I'm with Chewy on this one in regards to the sanctity of medical reports.

FFS, I assess applications for Life Insurance for a living, and am dealing with other people's medical records on a daily basis.

If I so much as THOUGHT about discussing that sort of privileged information with someone outside of work - and decided to mention names rather than be vague & general about it - I would be out on my arse so quickly I wouldn't know what hit me.

I suppose its playing into Channel 7's hands, but I had to watch their news tonight, just to see how they were going to report it.

Was absolutely hilarious.

One thing which I wondered about - they reported that Chris Grant wasn't abiding by the ban and was happy to talk to channel 7, followed with the tightestly cut clip I have ever seen of him saying '-eah I wouldn't have a problem with tha-'

Anyone know what he *actually* said?

I feel safe walking the streets and I sleep well at night knowing Today Tonight are watching over me.

Naomi Robson and Ray Martin - Society's Guardian Angels.

Oh how I miss them so

Further to this, I was listening to some fella from The Victorian Law Institute on the radio while out and about today and he went to pains to stress that the Doctor/Patient relationship is SANCROSANCT under Victorian Law.

So much so that if I was to go to my doctor and told him I murdered someone - he cannot notify anyone about it and his evidence cannot be used against me. The only exception is if he believes I will commit another murder, he can pass that information onto authorities.

Ignorance is no excuse before the law - people responsible at Channel 7 need to be charged with a criminal offence here. It may be the only way they get it through their fatheads that they are not the moral guardians of what can and what can't be said about anyone.

i never ever watch either of those trashy shows except if i catch an add about a new bra or jen hmmm, anyway the only way to get rid of those shows is for people not to watch them. Power to the people
