I thought it would depend on what deal was struck. If it's 13 and F1 for 23 and Barrass would think salary will be paid, if it's 13 and F2 for Barrass and F3 I doubt you'd want to pay much.

We don't exactly need the salary so thought maybe the latter is closer to where it would land. But the club might have other plans moving forward where it might unlock.

You might want salary as youre chasing Battle as a FA and will no doubt want to chase more players next year

He'd know more than me. I've said numerous times (in the correct thread) that I'd offer 23 or our F2 for Baker and if that's not enough I'd walk away. I think he's a quality player but in our situation I wouldn't go higher. I have no idea what the club will do though.

Again, and read this very slowly so you understand, i have said I would offer 23 for Baker IF I was in charge. I AM NOT in charge and I have no idea what the club will offer. I don't want them to offer 13 but they very well might. Quote me saying anything different

I'd hope for our sake we were using salary as as much of a bargaining chip as we can - we obviously don't have a list demanding top coin and would rather we use it in scenarios like this to get in as much young talent as immediately possible. Bigger priority for mine than for instance signing established guns right now - I like how you guys are doing things now where you've let your list develop and have figured out the positions you want to invest in.

Would Hawthorn be in a space salary wise where if WC covered a sizeable chunk you'd be happy to front-load a few of your own players, roll things smoothly with Battle, maybe bank up for another pickup next year? Or is it not a concern really atm?

So apparently we have millions, this was due to a few years of fronting and also paying for Tich and O'Meara to only meet the salary floor. That's all rolled off now.

WC could do the same with covering Barrass for a few years while paying and playing kids.

I didn't read too many Hawks posters making that clarification when posting no way would it take two 1sts. Nor did they acknowledge the Eagles 2nd rounder going back with Barrass.
