Pick 13 for a player you are actively shopping out to rejuvenate your list is hardly next to nothing.

Especially one who is 29 and has a significant injury cloud for the rest of his career.
How do you make out that we are shopping him?
He decided to look around off his own steam

You also lose leverage when you allow your “CONTRACTED” player to openly meet with an opposition coach to talk about moving!
Players meet other coaches all the time, mostly it goes nowhere and we don't hear about it.
Simmo said in an interview a couple weeks ago that he met with 50+ players in his time, most of them went nowhere

There is zero chance there is two firsts involved in this deal. It's as optimistic as anyone from Richmond thinking WC will give up pick 13 for Baker.
A little less optimistic.
At least Barrass is worth something in that ballpark. If the Hawks go and finish top 4 next year as they should with natural progression and adding Barrass+Battle, that f1 will be almost a 2nd rounder anyway.

As a neutral, it's just as optimistic. There is absolutely no chance they do it and nothing is guaranteed with future picks.

I mean the Eagles reneged on a verbal offer to give him a bigger slice of the pie and have basically offered Barrass the all clear explore his options.

Not exactly persona non grata but he isn't considered a required player anymore.

Verbal offers are always at risk when there's new management. As far as the current management it didn't happen. Barrass ****ed up there by ignoring his manager, not the clubs fault.

Still no evidence the club is shopping him around though

Not disagreeing with that.

Always have shit in writing.

2 straight first isn’t gonna happen and even the intel in the news isn’t that (it was reported 1st, F1st for Barrass and F2nd, the click bait has been 2 firsts not mentioning the F2nnd back).

13 will be 15-17 on draft night with F/S Academy and possible FA. I think every sane person agree 15-17 isn’t enough for Barrass.

The interesting part is will be what’s the sweetener. Do eagles want it this year or next year. Eagles at the start of the year have 22 players under 22 on the list and pretty much all of them will have a contract next year. We have experience around age of 30+ however a gap In the 24-28 agree group. Pyke, Bell and Clarke have all said we want to bring in some players in that age group leadership wise this year (as they don’t there to be a gap in the next year or so when gov, Cripps ect retire) that may mean they only want to take 4-5 players in this draft due to list spots.

The fuss around Barrass age and medical history although factual can’t be a leverage point if the 4-5 year deal on good money is true. If he was 26 and on a 5 year deal there is no guarantee he will play good footy past that.

Eagles having barrass on a 3 year contract and know if it drags out other clubs will jump in and I doubt barrass will say no to them and want to go back to the eagles.

Also we all know Sam Mitchell and the hawks and made it clear they plan and believe they can win a flag as soon as the next year or so. They got rid of omera and T Mitchell because they were taking CB time from other young guys who were close to being ready eg worpel and Newcombe. Barrass isn’t taking any young player who is just about ready’s spot. Instead his leadership and experience with also help develop Mcabe, blanke. Yes you get battle however frost is 32 next season and prior to this year hasn’t been up to it. Bruest and Gunston have 1 year left you think and even then won’t play the whole season. Barrass experience and leadership in the next 3 years can’t be underestimated.

2 straight first worth no, but if 2 1st around involved does that make it bad.

If it was reframed

13 + F1st (let’s say 13 again, think we can agree your 6th or above will be expectations now) for 23 and Barrass is that dramatically too much. What’s the difference if it’s F2 instead (no one thing eagles are finishing outside of bottom 4 next year). Which is actually less then 1st +F2

I actually think the longer it goes in the trade period the more it favours eagles as mentioned other clubs will start to try and get involved then. Cap space won’t be an issue because push comes to shove for a better pick eagles will pay some of barrass wage.

To summarise 2 straight 1st is too much, is 2 1st being involved to much though?

Yes, yes it is. Hawks will not involve two firsts in any way shape or form. Barrass is 29 in two weeks...

2 firsts will probably be involved.

Their f1 will be expected to almost be a 2nd.
They barely lost in the semis and want to add an Agrade FB and a very good CHB along with natural development.
13 and pick 16/17/18 before complexities is not significant overs.

If we throw a f2 back to the Hawks we have a fair trade

You guys can keep justifying it but it's just as optimistic as the Baker guys. If it happens, I tip mah hat to Clarke

Prepare to be disappointed in that case.
Ironic, he’s contracted.
It’s on Hawks to get it done, you offered him 5 years.

It’s different when a player is Out of Contract.
The original team has no leverage, Barrass is contracted so Eagles have the power here.

Two firsts with a 2nd or 3rd going back sounds fair

As I've said multiple times it will get done.

The reality is it will be a first rounder and some change. What that change is not yet determined.

It most certainly won't be two first rounders.

The Eagles live in reality. They need the 1st round pick to fast track their rebuild moreso than they need an aging Barrass on their list for another three years.

Hawks don’t get to dictate the trade here, as everyone has said multiple times.

Hawks offered 5 years to a CONTRACTED player.
Onus is on them to pry him out, Eagles can ask for overs.

Two firsts for a future 2nd or 3rd back

Lol Bigfooty chest beating for the millionth time isn't going to magically conjure up a second first rounder for the Eagles.

The Eagles are desperate for picks. They need young talent in a specific age group to mature together for a shot at a flag in 3-5 years time.
They aren't desperate to keep a 29 year old Barrass for another three years.

They will get their first and some change. Take it to the bank.

It will be a mutually beneficial trade for all parties. Barrass, Eagles and Hawthorn will be happy at the end of the day.

Chest beating? You’re trying to pry a contracted key position player away from a team with a 5 year deal on big money.
Eagles want picks…so they’re gonna take less picks by rolling over and accepting that?

Make it make sense? Lol
Onus is on Hawks to get it done, he is no OOC or a Free Agent.
Eagles have no reason to play by Hawks demands for a contracted player.

Come to the table

I guess the Hawks will pay what they want to pay. And the Eagles will sell for what they think he's worth.

If the Eagles aren't happy they can keep him.
