Patton is slow and shit below the knees , plus doing his knee won't do him any good
Yeah but Boyd is shit above the neck, I know which I prefer...the one your leaderless rabble were supposedly after before you had to give up your captain, number six draft pick & a million bucks for..hope he works out for you

Patton is no worse than Boyd in both aspects. Patton and Boyd are not any different to Hawkins, the type of player we hope they will be. Being good below the knees and being sprint champs is not what they are employed for.

Wouldn't say Patton is slow at all. He also has a massive tank, a killer instinct, and a tremendous work ethic...something some other players are yet to establish.

Remember early in the second season, maybe it was the opening game against the Swans? I can't remember exactly, but some hapless defender was over the ball, and the General has picked him up like a rag doll and absolutely smashed him into the turf - even I winced!

So you guys will never mention Ward or Griffen again?

Riiiiight.

Btw - it's our board, we'll talk about whatever the f#ck players want.

It's always hard when you lose someone you love, but in time the pain will go away. You guys are new to the reality of AFL, but believe me you have to move on and you will, just need time. Oh and hope none of the other kids want to head off next year I guess. Bless you.

Sounds like you're looking for a spell for trolling.

Calling the Captain.

You guys need to move on....he's gone.

Hate to burst your bubble buddy, but there is not much angst here, quite happy with our end of the deal, we got pick 6 plus a million dollars and an elite mid and current captain, you got a promise..

Not to mention some extra $$ to retain proven players like Cameron.

If you ask me, only players I'm sorry to have lost at end season 2014 are Whiley and Giles.

Agree, though I wasn't sorry to see Giles go as he didn't appear to be able to play as Mummy's foil and he deserves a first grade spot. Whiley is a loss for me, NSW boy and absolute terrier at the ball..

Just going for a Sunday Troll there eh? How did you end up here? Lost your way, just like your club? LOL

Only if your list management was done by idiots.

What the heck is the problem with frontloading new long term contracts to Bompatelli, Stringer and so on ?
Bontempelli can't be front-loaded until he completes his second year (the same reason Boyd is on draftee's wages next year). Stringer & Macrae will be front loaded next year as they signed (believed to be) lucrative extensions last year.

We're only just meeting the 95% cap in 2015 which means we'll be heavily weighting Boyd's contract in 2016 (as with many of our kids) when we can avail of the 105% rule.
We were struggling to meet 95% before we lost Griff, Higgins & Cooney (Jones & Tutt weren't on much so no real difference in bringing in Biggs/Hamling/draftees).

We actually have cap space to make an offer to at least one more big fish although a few clubs seem set for a big 2015 bite (including the Hawks and Freo) - coincidently the same year that Carlisle comes out of contract ;)

The issue is a number of clubs will be competing for a few big signatures and with the likes of Sloane (will probably stay) and Dangerfield (who knows) on the market, big marquee signings will happen every year.

Boyd saw Patton go down with an ACL and figured that could be me next year.

When the ridiculous and desperate offer came in he couldn't jump quick enough.

He was so keen to take it he was literally begging the coach and CEO to let him go via texts.

He's a textbook mercenary and I'm glad he's moved on.

With the exception of Lynch these grandfather deals have largely been terrible failures. Even if the Boyd one works he will come out of contract just when he should be peaking and will be ripe to head home to Carlton to play for his real love!!
Maybe so, but there is also a chance he might stay if the dogs are having a generation of success

Gotta love a Dogs fan talking about "a generation of success" like they know what one looks like.

Just dripping with irony on a Saturday moring.

Made me laugh anyway - well done.:p
