Actually, as you yourself have articulated, we can. We can also renege on our commitment to either Broomy or Murray or both.

I quite comfortably stand by what you quoted above - without one of those two highly unlikely circumstances above coming to pass we're stuck with only adding three players via the draft(s) at this point in time.

If anyone is actually hoping that we might reneg on the undertaking to rookie Murray and Broomhead (who are both still contracted for 2019) then that would be an exercise in folly from where I sit, as doing so would land us squarely in a legal and/or public relations shitstorm (not to mention potentially pissing $200-$300k down the drain for each of them and still likely having that bulk of that sum count towards our 2019 TPP).

Don't get me wrong - I'd love to have the Murray situation sorted and have another live pick in one of the draft(s), but it's pretty clear at this point that we'll have to wait until Murray is banned (if that does actually happen).

Murray is a possibility due to his situation, but i strongly doubt the club would renege on such a commitment to Broomhead once that had been arranged, and he or another club didn't offer an alternative. It would be a huge public slap to a good citizen of the club, apart from other possible consequences with managers and such.

I agree, but that doesn't mean it can't happen or that another club might grab him before we get a chance.

Look forward to seeing this bloke on the field for an AFL game. Who else have we let slide from our VFL side that has gone on to become a solid AFL player?

Not sure we let him slide. Much like we grabbed Kirby before Richmond, Bumbers just beat us to the punch.

I like the kid and would have been happy to see him added to our list if we'd had the chance.

Marty Hore.
Liam Jurrah, Callum Sinclair (VFL listed, but never played a game) and Tom Couch are other VFL magpies who've played senior footy at other clubs. While Sean Darcy trained with our VFL team, but was never listed.

If it wasn't the bombers it would have been the saints. Given how much development was still required he was always more suited to being rookie listed. Look forward to seeing how he goes on Friday.

I heard nothing about him all season

Yeah was gonna speak to you about this

Odd

Why did they give him a game

Put him on our rookie list I say

Maybe not dedicated/professional enough?

Hard to say. I know the Bombers tried him in a few roles. Remember seeing him do some ruck work one time. At one time the caveat to him seemed to be that he had no clear role... just raw potential.

For that reason I'm not sure whether he is worth a rookie spot. But would definitely invite him back over the summer to train with the VFL group to keep an eye on his development. Never know now with the mid season draft

Delisted by Bombers.

Surprising as he was always a project player rather than someone who would make an impact in their first season on an AFL list

Guess I was right when I said I would not of Drafted him last year

They gave him a game to test him out and he shatt the bed completely, every time he touched the ball he panicked and turned it over.

He was pretty ordinary that game with 2 turnovers and 66% disposal efficiency... but too small a sample to delist him on in my opinion.

Had an okay year in the VFL.

Other players get given longer to deliver on their potential

On a one game assessment Johnathon Brown wouldn’t have played a second. Didn’t register a stat. Nor Graham Gooch another test, he got a pair.

If that is true then it is plain stupid.
