I reckon this is worth a week. Totally unnecessary and pretty gutless attack on a defenceless player. Too much of this happening lately. Match Review Officer needs to come down hard. Low act by Lynch. Real potential to cause concussion.

Initially thought nothing in it, but looking at it again should be one week. Don't think Witherden's head actually contacts the turf, but if Witherden didn't resist the push strongly then his head would have bounced off the turf. All players should know by now they shouldn't be unnecessarily putting heads and brains at risk.

Whether he did something wrong shouldn't be determined by whether an injury actually occurred. The severity perhaps, but not whether he has a case to answer at all.

The point is that deliberately slamming your opponent's head into the ground is dangerous because it can result in head injury. And it was pathetic that Lynch made this cheap shot on someone lying on the ground. He deserves a fine.

We agree on most of it, I don't think it was bad enough to warrant a suspension unless he's a repeat offender, but he needs to be dissuaded from it. All players do.
