Hey Damo write something that requires doing a bit of research instead of constantly pulling this type of shite out of your ass. I know, how about a story comparing your talent and salary to that of a real football scribe.

I did a comparison thing last year comparing Scully with a host of other mids at the same stage of their careers (about 3 seasons and 50ish games) his stats at that point held up pretty well across the board - similar/more disposals and clearances than pretty much all of them and way more tackles. Less impact on the scoreboard than most but we were playing him as a defensive mid and there was not a lot of scoreboard pressure from anyone on the team (except Jezza I suppose)

The sort of players I compared him to were Ablett, Watson, Pendlebury, Cooney, Hayes, Mitchell, Hodge etc etc

Comparing anyone to Ablett is a complete joke though. Nobody, but nobody stacks up against what he can bring to a team.

I haven't redone the stats and quite frankly I couldn't be arsed. Scully goes alright. All he really has to do is learn to kick goals.

I have reservations about asking anyone to request or receive a pay cut if they are performing in accordance with their contractual obligations and the enterprise is not in financial straits.

That said, we probably have paid over the odds for Sculls; but to think he's the only player in that bracket is ridiculous. It's really not that Scully is overpaid, but that Ablett is underpaid. GC's salary cap would explode if paid his true worth.

Anyway, Sculls has mostly been a walk up start for inclusion in the best 22, and it is rare for any of the other mids to be held up as someone who should be in the side ahead of him. He does play out games and put his cliches on the line in the 4th quarter.

I'm glad we've got him; although I'm more glad we got Ward.
