MRP / Trib. Tom Stewart - Result 4 week match suspension

Tom Browne reporting just now that his news is that it would be careless, high and high. Sent straight to the tribunal, with the AFL wanting 4 or 5 weeks. Apparently a footy action, but interesting if this news is correct, and the full explanation from the MRO.

Will potential to cause injury also be factor for the MRO/tribunal? Prestia is lucky to walk away with just concussion, and not also a broken jaw and/or nose and/or cheekbone and/or eye socket.

so if I decide to tackle someone, then it is intentional, they do their knee because of my tackle, that makes the contact low and impact severe right?
If you decided to tackle someone around the legs and they snapped their ACL as a result of that, then yes. Its because the act plays some part in determining intent. If the forseeable consequence of tackling someone around the legs was that you could twist their knee, then the act may well indicate that the intent was to hurt.
The big difference here is that normal tacking is within the rules, high bumps off the ball and taking out a player who had already disposed of the ball isnt.
The MRP guidelines pretty well explain what "intentional" means.
It could well be careless if they deem that his intent wasnt to injure.

it was a blatant snipe

the Vic medias apology/sorry/out of character spin is quite sickening

cant wait for Gerard Whateley to make excuses for him after wanting Rioli rubbed for 6 weeks for flying for a mark which caused no damage

A lot of 'late hit' comments.

Prestia punches the ball away while Stewart is on his right foot.

Takes one step, travelling at speed, before impact. Cops Prestia while on his left foot. Literally one step later. We've all seen the slow motion replay, but in real time it wasn't even a split second between ball being knocked away and point of impact.

Huge hit, will miss weeks, but it's a long way from 'ran past the ball to line him up.'

Certainly got nothing on Alex Rance punching a prone Jack Watts in the back of the head or Bachar Houli (best on in the the 2017 grand final) taking Jed Lamb's head off.

There's big hits in football, and then there's dog shots. Let's not confuse the two.

Or Gary Ablett elbowing blokes in the head off the ball...

It doesn't matter. He's there, it's a potential CONFLICT of INTEREST!!!!!

:tongueoutv1:
What does our BF Conflict “expert”, Meteoric Rise have to say? Even before Dion Prestia had left the field Meteor R was calling for Brad Scott to play no part in the MRO review because of conflict

Someone has made a mistake. Article states that it is intentional and will be 4+ weeks. MRO statement says careless and 3+.

Stewart doesn’t brace for unavoidable contact, he leads into him to do a conscious, forceful bump.
Out of character, sure but it was late hit, snipe. No doubt about it. Knew he couldn’t contest the ball, went the man but didn’t put prestias height and dropping from the air into his calculations.
