I’m no Geelong lover, but what I saw just now on ‘On The Couch’ has me cranked up.

They showed footage of how Port ‘tagged’ Stewart out of the game.

1st video showed him being restrained from running at the ball with a two arm wrap around bear hug from behind.

2nd video showed him being physically attacked by THREE Port players as he tried to run to the huddle

Can’t recall the 3rd as I lost it - but it was more bullshit.

HOW THE **** can Umpires expect respect, when they watch and allow this sort of garbage?

It’lll be Goulden, Bonts, Greene, Walsh, Neale next ……

It’s absolute crap.

Expect more of it on Thursday but with even more scragging. Stewart retaliates, the original offender gets rewarded and Hinkley's plan plays out to a tee.

It's up to Stewart top be smarter this time and for team mates to help him out. Positional flexibility will help but won't be the only answer. The likes of Humphries and Zuthrie need to get off the chain if Port spend a lot of their focus on Tom.

I’d prefer (in any game with any team), to simply pay an off the ball free - it’s not done enough - which was my point - clearly went over certain heads.

How exactly am I scared of the tactics used on Stewart?

Oh, I get it…you think I’m criticising Port…because thats where your footy intelligence plummets. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I don’t give a squat which team it was - tactics like that are a blight on the game -

But since you believe your poo doesn’t stink - Port are and have been to primary umpire whiners since 1966 when Oatey’s mob got hold of you, so you’re making yourself look more stupid than usual.

Less yarping more reading (if you know how).
You're highlighting tactics that have been used since cocky was an egg because the thought of getting pantsed like you copped last time we met has you triggered sweetheart.

Every mid cops that. Geelong are masters of exploiting the rules too.
Yes they do - except I thought on this occasion it was allowed to go too far.

Just because minor infractions get ignored, doesn’t mean the Umps should ignore a bloke being mugged off the ball.

It’s the degree of ‘off theball’ tactics that was employed and highlighted by the OnThe Couch show that prompted my post -it was miles off being fair.

I really don’t care which team it was.

If certain nuffies want to think my comment is about Port specifically, then they’re bigger flogs than they've already proven.

Why do you think they've chosen this week to 'highlight' a passage from a Port v Cats game that happens multiple times in any given game?

All you're doing is spreading the Vic media propoganda.

You believe what you want - just don’t think I care enough about either team to go into bat for them - my issue is UMPIRES not enforcing the rules.

I kinda thought me posting it on this forum would shout that out. Go figure…

And as you have 4 of the 9 posts in the thread I'd say no one really cares about your umpire outrage either to be honest.

Its hilarious that the Media focus entirely on McEntee vs Tom Stewart.

Completely ignoring what Oisin Mullen was sent out to do to curb Jason Horne-Francis's influence in the second half of that same game. As a hint, it was exactly the same stuff.

Port fan here, I think umpires need to be smarter on the retaliation stuff. They're obviously aware of the attention he's getting, and whilst nothing that deserved a free in itself, they need to be aware of retaliation frees where a player just flops to the ground. It's the old "if you're going to give it, you have to be able to take it".

I'm not suggesting Stewart gets a free kick, but shoving a bloke with not much force shouldn't be a 50 if they've both been going at it prior. Sure, if he keeps shoving him to the floor then pay it, but don't get overly technical when there's already so much happening.

It's more that umpires are told to look for certain players being held off the ball than looking for players generally being held off the ball. Stewart not traditionally being an well known inside-mid is not looked at as closely as a Cripps, Neale, Daicos or Bontempelli
Which again creates a two speed economy and adds fuel to the "if you're a big name you get looked after"
