Surely you just rate the performance of the game and try and compare across games, you seem to be trying to spread it out too much, if Merrett had a game equal to Higgins and better than Dickson and Karnezsis equal to Dickson and Morris then I must have been watching a different match.

What would you suggest?
Each down one?
Thought Merrett was, for the most part, really good in defence.

Outside Rockliff I wouldn't have thought any other Lion was ahead of next 16 bulldogs players they were that bad

Here was my take after watching the game:

Melbourne v Port Adelaide:
8. Cornes, Hartlett, Boak
7. Schultz, Wines, Stewart, Viney, Ebert
6. Trengove, Monfries, Pittard, Grimes
5. Lobbe
4. Jones

I think you've undersold Boak's clearance work (particularly in the 2nd quarter).
Didn't think there was a stand-out BOG.

Thanks mate.
Well here's mine (though not with a full list of players:
Hawthorn v Geelong:

9. Mitchell

8. Enright, Selwood

7. Chapman, Sewell, Birchall

6. Lewis, Bartel, Schoenmakers, Taylor, Burgoyne, Rioli, Lonergan, Stokes, Mackie

5. Hill, Duncan, Gibson, Motlop, Varcoe, Podsiadly. Smedts

4. Franklin, Breust, Hawkins, Roughead, Hale

1. Gunston

The main differences we have is that I didn't give Selwood BOG (I thought he turned it over too much) and you didn't rate Enright's game as highly as me.
Also you really didn't like Sewell's game. Why not?
Selwood 9 - 8
Mitchell 8 - 9
Chapman 8 - 7
Mackie 8 - 6
Taylor 7 - 6
Bartel 7 - 6
Stokes 7 - 6
Varcoe 7 - 5
Duncan 6 - 5
Motlop 6 - 5
Smedts 6 - 5
Enright 6 - 8
Schoenmakers =
Lonergan =
Hill =
Podsiadly =
Hawkins 5 - 4
Gibson =
Rioli 5 - 6
Lewis 5 - 6
Sewell 5 - 7
Burgoyne 5 - 6
Franklin 3 - 4
Rounghead 3 - 4
Breust =
Hale =
Gunston =

So my interest lies particularly in where we have deviated by two.
I think you've overrated a lot of the Geelong boys games.
Bartel was only instrumental in the last quarter.Varcoe, Motlop and Smedts were important but they didn't play complete games.
They all did cameos here are there but I didn't think Varcoe or Motlop played well enough to deserve 7s.
And I'm not sure why you don't rate Sewell's game?

I guess I felt Bartel, Varcoe etc made game-changing impacts when it mattered. I agree they weren't complete games though.

Sewell was his usual self, probably worthy of a six in hindsight. However he didn't really stamp himself on the game I didn't think.

Yeah I'm happy with that. I thought Hartlett was BOG but not much in it.

Also thought Jamar was terrible. Lucky to get a 4.

poor Jones, he would be highly rated if he played in a better team (no dis-respect) he just gets overlooked as the losses pile up but he's a damn good midfielder at the moment.

Yes, and he was rewarded for his great season by being in the top 30 last year.
However, I thought he had an off game on Sunday.

From GWS v Sydney:
8. Jack, Mumford, Kennedy
7. Hannebery, O'Keefe
6. Treloar, Shiel, McVeigh, Coniglio, Richards
5. Goodes, Scully, Ward, Grundy, Pyke, Parker, Sumner, Shaw
4. Brogan, Bolton, Hoskin-Elliot
3. Patton, Reid, Giles
2. Greene, Jetta, Cameron

I thought Parker was better than a 5. Was one of their best in my opinion. Patton was handy with 3 goals and 4 marks, I'd give him a 5. The rest looks OK, although I don't know if Jetta should even be given a ranking, he was poor.
