Imo we should trade Hunter, Macrae and JJ. We have to make the hard calls to go forward. Just like when Hawthorn, Geelong and Brisbane all traded away gun players in the prime of the career. That was the cornerstone of their dynasties and will be the corner of ours.

Let’s make the hard call. Trade them for picks and try and fill the teams need of a gun winger, a fast back flanker and a ball magnet who can play inside and out. Should be easy to find.

Could Oscar McDonald 196cm, 100kg be the missing piece of the puzzle down back ?
A good option if we strike out on Matt Eagles and can't convince Shaun McKernan to come out of retirement

Lol people putting Gardner down as a delisting ate drunk

No matter what any of us think he played most of the year Andwe aren’t delisting him.

He may leave if he doesn’t agree to the contract offered, which at present he hasn’t, but he is not being delisted just because BF thinks he is sh*t.

this thread is full of utter bullsh!t and hero’s making stuff up to look relevant.

We are not getting anbig fish
We NEVER do
It’s sh!t but that is reality and it isn’t about to change

I agree he won't be delisted, but Bevo once delisted a guy who played 19 of 23 games in a year...

How bad was Tweedie hahahahaha
How he made it onto an AFL list I'll never know
Hardly at the level of the VFL in the first place, let alone justifying a spot on an AFL list. He was as speculative as they come, and only a Cat B rookie, but that definitely did not pan out. Was pretty lucky to get the opportunities he did - I've known guys with twice the talent from regional or disadvantaged areas who don't get these opportunities due to not qualifying for NGA

He was so far out of his depth at VFL level - I think he actually didn't make the team a fair few times
Did nothing in his draft year but somehow kicked 6.0 in the last two games of the year, good on him for timing his run I guess

We were 2nd to Weat coast from scores from ruck contests so there is more than one way to skin a cat
I believe that was score differential from centre clearances not stoppages as a whole.

Western Bulldogs - 2020 - Home and Away - Scores From Stoppages
From Centre Bounces we scored 27.16 ranked 2nd.
From Throw Ins we scored 18.23 ranked 18th.
From Ball Ups we scored 18.18 ranked 2nd.

Overall our Strike Rate was 9.7% which is ranked 9th.

I wonder how much this is due to English's lack of engagement at boundary throw ins.

Bounces and ball ups gives him more a direct run and jump at the footy. Whereas boundary throws is always body to body contact.

I think you're on the money here. English gets outmuscled at throw ins, but is given a chance to actually run at it in a centre bounce. His ruck work is below average all around, but it's deplorable at throw ins. It's why I'd like to see a ruck/forward recruited who can handle the ruck contests at throw ins and allow English to position himself behind the ball to intercept if we do lose the clearance. Better than guaranteeing we lose the ruck tap at throw ins.

The Cats are up to their eyeballs into Jeremy Cameron.

We need to go all in for Ratogolea. He is a man mountain and can play forward and in the ruck - the perfect foil for English.

I would trade Lippa, Dale or Richards, but they would likely want something else. JUH and Rat/ English forward and Naughton to CHB.

No thanks. He's the standard not very good but occasionally gets a game because he's a big bloke type.

With today’s rules , is there an obvious reason why English is instructed to go shoulder to shoulder with the opposition ruck man at a boundary throw in ? Ie can’t he Start his run at the ball from further away and not make contact until the tap ?

I think it's just devastating to our effectiveness when we have a top 4 midfield yet in one key statistic we are 18th for scores.

With our forward line we need a top 6 midfield in all facets on the game to progress deeper in finals. And it starts with a competent second ruck.

8.19 - He does exactly that. And if the throw in's not spot on then he's basically allowing his opponent to direct it where he wants.
