Journos target Bevo, and hence the Dogs, because he is openly contemptuous of their professionalism and ethics, whereas other coaches are merely privately contemptuous.

The football media either needs to either toughen up or be better at their jobs. I can't see either of these things happening any time soon.

Someone earlier this year did an American sports reporting vs Australian sports reporting and the Australian one is bit of a circus in comparison

Sorry - probably wasn’t clear above - someone mentioned recruiting him and wondered why he was let go, I mentioned the above post as a possible reason.

Didn’t mean that him getting the arse was a rumour….

Probably similar timing to when we sacked McCartney, so doesn't necessarily mean that it'll backfire.

I'm struggling to see the reasoning though. Not like they had a big player exodus during the trade period, decision just came out of nowhere.

I would hope we have a chat to him at least. Question marks over whether he is a competent senior coach (record of 94-1-93 but did have some pretty average squads, only two finals wins) but sounds like he has been a very good assistant in the past.

Hasn’t he got some training and conditioning issues. Put on lots of weight in the off season etc.

He was good until the kebab incident then faded away. Not sure why he never played much again. Maybe he doesn't do enough off the ball when tigers were looking at players that apply pressure and run defensive patterns.

Saints boards seem rapt in general. Seems like they enjoying turning on their own also.
Strange when Saints were 8-3 this year I bet they weren’t bagging the coach.

How can Pickering complain about a 4th round pick. He said it himself it's worthless. So why didnt Brisbane just give it up easily to get the player they wanted, they obviously didn't want to at first. What a nub.

Pickering also said Dunkley got a bit nervous a few days out so they met with Brisbane and they explained how it would play out.

So they knew all along what it would take.

It’s times like this I wish we (and other clubs) were a bit stronger calling out media BS. NBA GM’s do it all the time.

Think they can consider themselves lucky Geelong were really generous in their pick swap otherwise the trade would have been extremely difficult.

More suited to a pure midfield role than being played on the wing if memory serves me correctly?

Would hate it if another Melbourne-based club picked him up as a DFA over us, but not sure he fills a need.

Really want us to find a hard running winger on the cheap to replace Hunter.

He is a really good kid (family friend), a hard worker and hard at the footy similar to Picken and Smith in their midfield days.

Polish is his issue and not particularly quick.
