I don't think Lobb's going anywhere. We committed to him for 4 years for a reason and to try to push him out now would look like a monumental fail. From his point of view, he's in a comfortable space with another 3 years on good coin. Darcy is still an unknown quantity in terms of fitness and durability so Lobb has a role to play. Certainly however, the coaches need to demand a more consistent performance from him.
Often takes more than one season to gel with a new team. Started to look like it was coming together in the last few rounds. Hopefully it progresses in the season to come.

Isn’t the Duursma talk purely because there are an article suggesting he could be used by port to gain currency to get their trades done?

If he’s available I’d be asking the question but 2nd rounder at best.

I’d definitely be asking about Hollands from Gold Coast.

We need to improve that 16-23 player range through some trades and draftees.

True. Lobb also had an interrupted pre season with the ankle surgery which would've further delayed getting things to click.

How does our drafting group work. I thought a guy Milesi (?) was in charge. Does he answer to Power and Sam makes the final decision? Does this mean both Milesi and Power have to see all the potential draftees ( or the top ranked 10, 20, more?) to get an idea of relativity. I understand we have a team of scouts watching potential players, getting vision and submitting reports. Then I thought Milesi decided a final order and we work our way through that list. I thought Powers role was contracts but may have that wrong.

I will try and guess as I know how it works with one club.
Milesi and Co look at the talent and will look at all prospective players in the draft. Then they will formulate who they believe should be pick 1 and so forth may be till pick 35.
After that they may try get a need player rather than best available.

It will be Sam decision whether or not we retain the picks or look to trade it. This is done in conjunction with Malesi and Co

The one club that I know of it seems the biggest conjecture is not the draft pick of the player but at times it’s whether a pick should be used in a trade or used in draft

The coach usually wants a player ready to go to help with a need as coaches tenure may be 2 years etc where as the recruiters and list manager may want a long term player via draft. If a consensus cannot be achieved it is usually made by CEO and Manager of Football.

I admit I was not a fan of the Lobb acquisition. But he showed the value in the last five games. Darcy will eventually replace him but is a least a season away from the physical resilience to play consistently.

We also saw how good he was in the ruck - if time is injured/tired or falls out of from Lobb could go in and be a good player.

As Darcy grows we in ability the right thing will happen - he will push Lobb out with performances not potential. This makes us strong. Imagine if we had those options in the midfield.

If we even want to play them together - we can push Naughton up the ground but expect injuries form will provide enough opportunities for Darcy to play 10+ next year.

So many of our top players had shockers this year and pre-season can’t come early enough and as stupid as it sounds the extra five weeks to recover and get to work early is exactly what we need - again list at the moment is not the issue it is how the players are working as a team - we can all see how they even celebrate a win - relived not belting out the song excited for the next game.

Above the shoulders stuff. That can be addressed with performance psychs having a bit more time with the team but also picking players based on attitude - eg how much more energy do we have when Artie plays. Even Baker has spunk. Cleary is a cool customer. Need defenders with some aggression and we can get that high positive aggression that will carry the rest of the players up. Wood, Morris, Boyd - gave us that today that attribute is so low - that we look slow and nice.

They must be out there - Box Hill were chock full of them - but most were on Hawks list - Marty Hore is the name that comes up, then maybe Ethan Philips but despite them consistently being in VFL team of the year and always been talked about / no team in the AFL has picked them - even as rookies - so must be a knock on them? That why I reckon the SANFL, WAFL or other is where they maybe or try cricket again;)

Im going to file the Lobb rumour right next to the one of the board moving against Beveridge and instigating payout talks.
Don't forget it's Bevo marriage that caused us not to make the top 8

"Average footballer" that Brisbane with their apparent star list wants.

Might take their recruiting team over Bigfooty
St Kilda have been watching him first hand for years. In both leagues. Perpetually injured and when he is fit this year he is playing VFL.

Doesnt have AFL legspeed.

This type of comment is pretty tedious.

No wonder people with information don’t post it.
You know what's really tedious?

Reading and engaging with dozens of pages of comments whenever somebody comes in here and posts a rumour that doesn't come to pass. Thus cannot be verified as true one way or the other.

If Lobb requested a trade that would be an absolute indictment on Bevo and the senior football figures at the club
Maybe so.But also means the club is being realistic. Lobb was supposed to bridge the gap to finish top 4
It failed let him go to Saints if it works.
Play Croft if he nominates and Darcy.Even Buku though too short for ruck.
Without a competing midfield and a more attacking new game plan.Lobb is wasted. And list clogging.

Ahh yes it was Lobbs fault so lets get rid of him and significantly weaken the team with unproven non ready kids

When i originally said what i heard about Lobb, i did say take with a grain of salt. Exact same person i heard we are getting stewy dew. If you look at when i wrote it was well before it was mentioned in the media. Same person that told me we made a play for Barrass last year that i passed on.

Have noticed, some on this board scorn at any info here. Not all info turns out to be correct, as circumstances change etc but i welcome anyone that has heard something to pass it on. Atleast gives us something to talk about haha.

May as well shut the whole place down then. It is a football trading forum isn’t it.
