Not sure if it's his hands or because he has 2 years left on contract but adelaide fans want the world for him.
Can't blame them.

He's got 2 ****ing years left.

Not sure we need to be asking about other clubs table scraps.
Where we are at the moment we really only need good players. Players we know can do something and make the side better rather than players who might do something or just add depth.
I do not think we aim at anything lower than Mitch Wallis. I know a few are not impressed by him but as far as recruits go he should be the minimum standard. Averaging 21 disposals 1.1 goals 3.9 tackles , 50/50 split between contested and uncontested possession and 3.3 marks. I am using him as the lowest standard we could entertain .Good but not a star player. Anything under his level we have covered with what we have and even at his level we have a few that have him covered.
We need to be aiming high or pretty much not at all.
I agree, but I'd put the minimum higher than Wallis. A graders or go to the draft.

I like him but having started looking back at what has happened over the last 11 games and planing a review I am looking at him as the lowest we should aim for so right now he would be the second or third string target . If we land a bigger fish I doubt he fits in.

Bloody tough gig for these kids. Even for established players it can be so cut throat. It is what it is this time of year I suppose.

Look, he's a proven commodity, a key position player, he's got 10 years left in him and well contracted, they've got a right to want a good return.

I don't think it's out of the realms for the Crows to ask for a pick in the teens, but if they want pick one he's basically going to have to be the steak knives, he's just not on that level.

I wholeheartedly endorse this post!!

The other thing to consider is that we are very likely to begin being a good to very good side next year and not see a top 10 pick again for 3-5 years. As far as list development goes, unless something brilliant* comes our way, we should be trading out something to get another second rounder or into the 3rd. We can then afford to start to a scattergun approach for more outside run and raw KPDs. The youth coming through this draft will be important to keep upwards pressure on the list in 2020-2022.

We also need to realise that with our list building nicely a bunch of new recruits means that we have to go back to the drawing board as far as chemistry goes. We don't need depth because we should be playing our 20-22 year-olds. This is to develop them and for us to make a call on whether they are good enough going forward. Also if we do get games into them, end up a strong side and they are still on the fringe as 23 year-olds then they have trade value. A club rebuilding may be prepared to trade away a good 28 year-old we need at that point for a 23 year-old who has shown a bit.

I also think that we're ready to be a top 6 side that will look likely to be top four at different stages. I'd love us to keep this list together and win a final next year, then get in a FA or similar to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

*brilliant means someone who will have enough of an impact in the middle that will see nearly all of our mids slide down in importance for opposition defensive planning. That extra breathing space makes each one of them a better player. The means getting, for example, Shiel means that his impact on our team is greater than just his own output.

Nathan Freeman anyone? looks like the saints just delisted him. Insanity they finally get him on the park then delist him. High draft pick who I know has had his fair share of injury issues but could be a steal. Saw him up close at his junior club last week and looked to be in really good nick. Surely at least worth a look on a one year deal somewhere.

I hear he absolutely blitzed us a few weeks ago.

Get it done doodoo

Grumpy poopants warning!
Dylan Shiel is one of the more overrated players in the AFL.
Has the odd standout game and but is not nearly consistent enough with his contested game, pressure game and scoreboard impact.
His kicking is also a bit Heppelly and unreliable.
That doesn't mean he won't be a solid addition to the midfield. I just think if we get him, we'll be paying too much.

That said i also shat all over the Stringer trade so come at me!
Yeah I agree to some extend. I don’t look at our list and think “if only we had Shiel” the way I say that about Cripps or Oliver for example.

I still think he’ll have a big impact. Could potentially be a Tom Mitchell scenario with more time in the midfield away from their stacked midfield

FWIW on Adelaide radio yesterday it was put out there that both of these boys have stated that if they are drafted interstate that they will be coming back to Adelaide in two years anyway.
They probably all say that but get them into a supportive culture and give them a taste of Melbourne, I reckon they’d change their mind pretty quick. Didn’t chad wingard say the same thing in his draft year causing gws to pass on him? Now there’s talk of him asking for a move to Melbourne.

Freeman from reports was paid roughly a mil to come over to the saints, finally Get fits and is dumped. I've seen a lot of posters say "only after 2 games" not to mention the 15 or so he played in the VFL. The saints list is a shambles and he is the first gone.. the writing on the wall re Freeman is pretty clear to me.
