It may not be true but it feels like we are only going hard for Shiel now that Setterfield said no. Could be too little too late now.

Shiel asking for another 48 hours is interesting. Not sure what to make of that.
Has to try and find a house in Moonee Ponds

Great Thread. Would read again. Trade year really brings out the lunacy of it all.

We get someone great. We don't - meh, we take a good pick to a supposed good draft.

I look forward to the naysayers enjoying next season, especially if we don't land a big fish. Will be a hilarious off-season of doom and gloom.

Only thing stopping Shiel from signing is Smith wont give up no.5!
It's a deal within a deal.

I thought you said he was a certainty?

Agree with Setters but I think Dom Tyson would have been a good get if we don't land Shiel.

Welcome to Essendon Cam Ellis-Yolmen and you will like it haha

CEY, no thanks

Shit is going to hit the fan if Shiel doesn’t nominate us.

It’s going to go full UFC up in here.

Yeah I don't reckon. Maybe a few regulars will chime in with their ongoing rubbish narrative but aside from them, I wouldn't have thought too many of us would give a stuff. Not point worrying over what 'could've' been.

For mine, gotta back the current list in and go head first into the draft with a big smile on our face.:thumbsu:

My theory about the silence is that we're working on getting players out at least one of whom is contracted.

I doubt that we're letting go of Martin and the plan involves being in the running to bring Shiel in too. I expect that we're involved in the Hogan-May mega deal because part of GC's compo will need to be players. It's also evident that we would have re-signed Hartley by now if he was not being considered as part of a plan.

Issue is that Hogan-May might not happen so we don't want to burn any bridges.

There is no dignity or professionalism in shopping players around in public.
