I don't understand this rationale.

For a start, Collingwood doesn't have any problems stacking a midfield with inside mids. Neither do the Dogs, generally.

If the logic is being consistently applied, not just as some knee-jerk drivel to grab headlines (and Lloyd is a boof head extraordinaire), wouldn't one of Parish, Merrett, Smith or McGrath be on the table too?
You're just looking at size, not what they bring. Oliver, Brayshaw and Vandenberg (3 of their 5 starting IM's) are basically the same player.

Collingwood us Pendlebury, Treloar, Adams, Sidebottom and Wills/Sier as their starting inside mids. Pendlebury is more of a drift through a pack, Treloar is you breakaway from a stoppage, Adams is your take the contact and get the handball out, Sidebottom is your first receiver and Wills/Sier essentially act as wrecking balls.

Bulldogs have a similar thing. There's nothing wrong with being a tad inside heavy, it's that there's no variety other than Petracca for Melbourne.

If we found a way to fit in one of those two I wonder if the supporters will finally stop complaining about our lack of big bodied mids haha would need to find something else to complain about
Of course we need big bodied mids, but just dont think those 2 are the ones to target. Melbourne will only trade them for a premium, so someone is going to over pay. We already gave up 2 for shiel and there will definitely cheaper options available that can perform the same role (Greenwood to GC last year). We dont need a big bodied mid to be our star like Cripps or Bont rather just to provide a presence in there and make mcgrath, parish etc walk taller.

If the club wanted that you’d think Clarke would be a walk up start

Lordo reckons Melbourne should consider trading either Brayshaw or Oliver. Midfield is too ‘samey’.

Would we throw our hat in the ring? What would we pay?
I would imagine Brayshaw would be morel likely to be let go as Oliver has the greater scope.

Would take either in a heart beat. I imagine that Melbourne will want a decent return.

Clarke's kicking is a liability he has never been able to shake. I like him but no matter what he gives us in the contest, it was shown last year that he cant be trusted by foot when good teams put him under enough pressure.

I wonder if Sam Hayes is available this year. Was really disappointed he went two picks before Houlahan that year, as Melbourne were taking Oskar Baker regardless.

Whose size?

Brayshaw and Oliver are not the same player. Oliver is most naturally a first touch distributor. Brayshaw can play inside first and second touch. He's also a good endurance runner who can run with the ball.

Vandenberg plays 3 games a year.

We dont need any more developmental rucks on our list, let alone spending trade capital on them.
He's third fiddle at Port and showed plenty in the SANFL last year from what I've heard.
contracted until 2021
Don't have to be OOC to be traded. Though I would prefer putting time into Willem Drew, who seems to be out of your side right now.

Drew was injured. Just came back and was an emergency last week
Fair enough. However selfishly I hope he continues to not get games and as such comes to Essendon

Have heard some whispers (take with a grain of salt) that Brayden Fiorini may be gettable. Hard-at-it player but not great disposal. Possibly one to consider.

He could be 10th string at Port for all i care.
Doesnt change the fact he is a 21yo ruckman coming off an ACL. We have one of those already in Draper who is actually playing, plus 4 other ruckman on our list. Even if we lose one of T-Bell/Phillips that is still 4 rucks on our list going into 2021.

What your proposing is a trade for a trade sake's as we can pick up an experienced 4/5th ruck via DFA/FA this year for free if we want to, but we need to hit the draft in a meaningful way.

We already dont have the draft capital to begin with, so to chase a contracted development player at a position we are already development stock in is poor list management.

Tom McDonald dropped. Seems to have fallen out of favour, think he could do with a change of scenery.

He’s a terrible forward and we don’t need a backman.
He's really not though, had a great year playing alongside Hogan in his last season at Melbourne. If by some miracle we keep Joe and he gets back to somewhere near his best they would work well alongside each other

I agree, but I would be hesitant to have his current contract on the books. It isn't exactly cheap. Would rather Brayshaw.

Have said on many occasions he's the one I want in the off-season, he's a legit gun and would change our midfield.

Cue the name Brayden2Jayden
