The other option that should be considered is mature recruit from a strong state league around the country. Podsiadly was a huge success for Geelong and would have help Tom Hawkins develop over the past few years. Does any know any good state league forwards that are around? Will be a lot cheaper that the Kurt Tippett option;)

Scott Clouston? 25 years old,194cm,92kg. - NEAFL
Has AFL experience and has played well for Redlands. Finished 2nd in the grogan medal (player of the year), and kicked 55 goals for the year. A number of clubs seem to be interested.

I wonder if Armitage would be open to a move back to QLD? If Caddy were to go to the Saints? Would be a useful player with a mature body on him, can kick a goal also?
I think you will find that he is earmarked as the first in line to replace Lenny Hayes, once he hangs up his boots. Offloading him would probably defeat the purpose of us getting Caddy to a very large degree. Especially unlikely now that we have lost another "big body" in Goddard, who was also playing in the guts in the 2nd half of the season.

No chance, will try find quote from him where he says he has never considered leaving the Saints to go home. Even when out of contract, so would have to be remarkable turn in events to happen.

BTW im hearing the Hickey to Saints trade is all but done and will be finalised early in week. Not sure what trade involves though, im assuming a pick or something. Also think Saints have gone cold on chasing Caddy as we wanted to use our Goddard compo (pick 13) but as we wont know officially what it is until 4 days left in trade period it all but counts us out.

I can also show you a quote that if Tippett ever left the Crows, it would be to return home to Queensland ;)

But have to agree with you, Armitage is an integral part of the Saints midfield now that Goddard has moved on. I also think it is ridiculous that you guys may not find out your Goddard compo for most of trades week? That's crazy as it an massive bargaining chip for you.

Haha and Mitch Clark was only going to Fremantle! Amazing what money does to ones plans!!

Yea it's ridiculous that hve to wait so long to be officially told what compo we get. I still dont understand why free agency period needs be so long!

But what it does is also hold up clubs normal draft picks. Eg if Melbourne were to trade pick 13 (which they currently officially have) to Pies for Dawes that pick will most likely change once the Free Agency stuff goes through and we get first round compo for Goddard.

If you were Pies and you traded for pick 13 to only find out couple weeks later its 14 you wouldn't be happy!!
