Sunny 16°
I was on my morning walk through Yarra Park and decided to pop over to have a coffee at the Glasshouse. Surprised to see players on the track, so decided to stay a while.
Players in attendance:
Smith, Moore, Crocker, Kirby, Langdon, Sharenberg, McLarty, Daicos, Sam Murray, Cox, Wills, DeGoey, Aish, Sier, Adams (gym only), Moore, Phillips, Maynard
New Looks:
No new summer hairstyles to report except that Darcy Moore has reverted to his natural colour again. Brayden Sier was sporting not just one piece of nose jewellery, but two; a stud in his right nostril and a gold sleeper in his left.
The players arrived in two groups about 20 minutes apart. The first group jogged/walked a lap and then rotated through four exercise stations. All involved stretching/rolling designed to massage any soreness from yesterday’s hill runs. Players used medicine balls and other soft equipment to roll upon.
Then players were placed into pairs for boxing drills. Poor James Aish scored Rupert Wills as his partner, which looked like a mismatch to me, but as it turned out, it wasn’t. Wills didn’t seem at all comfortable in this exercise and couldn’t find his balance. Aish on the other hand moved really well.
Brayden Sier looked very comfortable here. His footwork suggested he has done a bit of boxing. Looked a complete natural and was beautifully balanced. Mason Cox on the other hand, looked like a fish out of water.
As one group exited the arena the next arrived and went through the same routine. I heard the trainer in charge tell the players that the drills were to prepare them “for tomorrow.” Three days in a row on the track; that’s a tough return.
Other Observations:
•Kayle Kirby looks to have maintained his body over the break. He's not svelte at all, but he isn't the blimp that he was this time last year. That's a good thing.
•Brayden Maynard looks to have slimmed down a bit. It could be the dark, training t-shirt that made him appear slimmer, but I don't think so. I almost didn't recognise him.
•Brayden Sier moved as well as I've ever seen him.
•Jordan DeGoey looks super fit and ready to roll.
