I know it’s been said before but geeez what a nice line up of coaches, Rats, Clarko, Gibbo, Blakey, Boomer, Kearney etc…
Sort of makes you wonder what might have been had we been able to splurge during our 2007 dash or 2013-2016 campaigns.

But yes, a bloody dream team. The players don’t have any excuses not to get everything out of themselves.

Does Josh Gibson want to play for us again? Looks in better shape than a lot of the boys out there.

Out of interest track watchers, have Chom and Benny McKay played on each other in any of the match sims or are coaches holding that one back for fear of some sore of dragon ball style Kamehameha cataclysmic event?

Don't forget Patch Adams who single handedly pulled us out of the quagmire of Noble's dog breakfast in the last part of 2022.
He's a ripper!!!!

Given the type of player he is, I wouldn't mind if Wardlaw misses most of the senior football for 2023, I think they need to get their body and their muscle mass up to compete with mature players, it takes time.

Harris, Greenwood, Swallow, Cunners, etc all had up and down first few years.
I agree, it would be fine if he missed most of this year, the dude is 18yo. We have a glut of mids on the tail end of their careers in Greenwood, Cunnington, Shiels. Wardlaw will take one of their spot when he is ready.

I'm all aboard the Wardlaw patience game as I think we're years away from seeing his dominance at AFL level, but if he gets a run of games in the VFL then he may end up in the seniors due to our lack of depth up forward.

This is no criticism of Clarko, as one of my many criticisms of Noble was his reluctance to move players down back despite that being where the entirety of our games were played, but a lot of our forwards have been moved into other roles this offseason.

Ziebell, Thomas, and Drury are the obvious three who could have played a lot of games for us as forwards this year who have been transitioned into defensive roles. Sheezel is potentially a fourth name after his minutes at Half-Back last week.

Curtis, Zurhaar, Larkey, and Comben are the four forwards who we can reasonably expect to rely on this year. I'd include Sheezel as well dependent on what position he ends up in. After that you have the following groups as depth:

Resting Rucks: Xerri, CCJ, Free, and Edwards
Small Forwards: Spicer, Mahony, and Turner
Medium Forwards: Ford
High Half-Forwards: Stephenson, Taylor, Harvey, and Lazzaro

Given that two or three of those may have to play round one, if Clarko doesn't want the additional ruck and a triple towers setup then you're looking at us being about five to seven deep up forward. Just with injuries we'll cycle through all of those names, but once form comes into the equation then Wardlaw could easily get some gametime if he puts together a string of full games in the VFL.

I have seen some poor best teams posted on this site but this one from the Zero Hangar takes the cake - Goldie and Powell not best 23; CCJ in for Chom; Young not even in the best 26.

I swear this is true. I searched for zero hanger on Facebook and this is what came up:
