The thing that seemed to stand out for me was the basicness of the training. Someone mentioned it the other day but it really was an u18 or local footy club type of thing with regards to the drills etc. I can only assume Clarko is stripping it right back with foundation level skill development, which certainly warms my heart given the level of skills on display over previous years. Noble said his first priority was education, but that certainly seemed to be something he struggled to get across on available evidence. The training I witnessed today was extremely basic, and more geared toward development from a low base than anything I watched during pre season of the previous administration. Another thing that stood out was the operation of forwards, mids and defenders at times dong their own things as a group, without training with the while playing group. Not that they did this the whole time but certainly for large chunks of the session.

I'd love to know the footballing benefit of playing soccer but I'll bow to Clarko's better judgement there.
In regards to how basic the training is. My thoughts are Rhys tweaked Brad's game plan and the implemented his own. Noble then came in and tried to implement his game plan (I use that term loosely) then Patch tweaked Noble's game plan, that's 4 different systems in 4 years.

So rather than Clarko coming in and doing the full on 'Here's the game plan now go out and execute it' it appears that he's building it in pieces / layers starting with the basics like the give and go when there's a player on the mark and kicking around the player on the mark (which a couple of posters have mentioned previously).

This leads to your other point about the forwards, mids and defenders doing their own things at times as it simplifies what they have to learn and practice. The mids, for example, can focus on say winning the ball from the tap, the spread and finding the loose player, rinse and repeat, then the coaches can layer in the delivery in F50. All the while the Forwards have been working on their leading patterns separately so they're ready to go for match simulation.

In regards to the soccer training assuming that they're playing some sort of soccer match. One of the things with soccer, unlike footy where you can just kick it to a pack and hope that your teammate marks it or wins the ball if it hits the ground, is you have to do a lot of work off the ball. Receiving the ball you have to find the spaces, that spot where you run / drift into, to get separation from your opponent. Distributing the ball, with a majority of passes played along the ground, you have to find the angles as opponents guard the space. I know it didn't work out for Will Walker (due to our injury mismanagement) but he was quite good at this, soccer players see the field differently. Keep an eye on Flynn Perez too, as a former junior soccer player.

Assuming we'll be playing a possession based game this will hopefully assist the players, we all know how frustrating we've been at turning over the ball, we should be able to find space and work the angles to hit a target (you mentioned kicking around the corner). That's my guess anyway.

Lachie Young both training and coaching at the same time. That's the kind of multi-tasking efficiency we need at the club.

All well and good to have these guys come in and roast the players, but isn't that what killed Noble?
Very sus on this shit. We've seen how it went with the Crows, and with the investigation still hanging over Clarko, the club would want to be very careful.
