Where’s the Liverpool fans saying they are always skint and can’t compete?

Spurs snubbed again.
Being the 8th richest club means little if you’re the 5th richest in England behind Liverpool, City, United and Chelsea.

The moment we’re ambitious enough to target someone good enough to make us better, one of them is likely to be interested, and a far more appealing proposition having had recent success.

Both North London clubs now stuck on the same loop on the same set of train tracks. Stuck buying ‘nearly’ great players, that then become hard to shift after a large outlay, but ultimately don’t get you closer to the top.

We’re in the wrong country.

The notion that Spurs and Arsenal can't sign great players BS. West Ham have signed Bowen. Leeds have Raphina. Both massive upgrades on guys like Pepe and Lo Celso who were signed for probably 5-6 times as much.

The problem the two clubs have being rich but not that rich is they think they're too good to go shopping in the 15-20m price range and get caught up going for what appears to be a glamour record signing

Think he's pretty spot on.
I’m on a spurs forum currently consuming 80 pages a day on transfers and at present there is 1000 pages dedicated to Levy/ENIC. Fair to say it is a very negative minded message board towards ownership.

Just made a similar remark there, hit with nothing but agrees so far. From an anti-ENIC crowd. But JD gonna JD.

So blinded by my refusal to blame everything on ownership (that I want gone btw after the ESL farce) that apportioning blame or reasoning onto anything but ENIC must be wrong.

I stand by only a couple core principles and beliefs and they hate it

1. We are a wealthy club that should operate within its means, and does not need funds from its owner.*

2. Spursy, hoodoo’s and whatever other coping mechanism’s they can think of are mumbo jumbo nonsense. We lose cup finals/semi finals because we run into teams that are better. They are better because they have more ease signing quality players.

*more broadly this folds into my hatred if blank cheque clubs that buy success with gay abandon spending from their owners. Not good for the game and sets bad examples for lower divisions that ultimately see clubs go under. I hate it so much.

chef says Conte may hate this, he might. He came here knowing who we are, and what we are. Ornstein yesterday did say Diaz was just one name on our list and a few more would appear over the weekend.

What you’re describing is Poch era turning good players into world class players that bigger clubs wanted to buy off us.

The moment that growth took us to the point Poch needed established stars we couldn’t get them and settled for slightly less with Lo Celso, Ndombele and Sanchez (all Poch choices).

Bowen is now becoming a player that a bigger club could be interested in. Wasn’t when West Ham signed him. Ditto Raphinha. We’ve never had issues signing from that rung on the shelf. Diaz, Dias, Fernandes, Hazard, Suarez. Arguably the only time a genuine star turned down a bigger club for us was Gascgoine turning down United.

We might sell some players in the next 2 windows to cover most of it, got a bunch of players with 18 months left.

You're preparing a 15m bid for KLP supposedly so exactly that strategy.

If football manager taught me anything, it’s that spending big on scouting pays off in the long run

Spurs have money, their biggest problem is scouting and buying the right players. We didnt break the bank for guys like Mo, Mane, Bobby, Robbo, Fabinho, Jota, Henderson, Gini, Matip, Konate etc etc...

The only two guys where we really pushed the boat out on was VVD and Alisson and that was Coutinho money.
