if hes the best power forward in the game, where is his coleman medal?

Most contested marks and most marks inside 50 is proof that Travis Cloke is the best power forward marking player in the AFL.

After all, power forward play is all about taking marks.

As we said, if you bothered to read this thread..

he can't kick..

that is why Collingwood were able to resign Travis for $400,000 a year plus incentives rather than $1,000,000 a year.

If Travis could kick, he would be anything.

but for us, right now...

he is everything.

Travis Cloke - the most important player in the best team in the AFL...

who cares if he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a kick from 20 metres..

If he can't kick for shit what is the benefit of him taking marks inside 50?

Whats the point of having someone who is athletic, strong, quick and a strong mark when he cant kick the goals.

Like Plugger once said "I'm paid to kick goals, so thats what I do."

Look, I'll explain this once and once only, so listen carefully. Cloke is paid to take marks inside forward 50, not to kick the goals. Everyone knows he kicks points. This then allows us to utilize our invincible forward press from the kick in, get the turn over and kick a goal (or give it back to Cloke and get another point). If Cloke kicked the goal, the ball would go back to the centre and we've only ended up with 6 points. By kicking the point, then occasionally another, and sometimes even another one after that, before finally kicking a goal, we end up with 7, 8 or even 9 points instead of 6.

What people haven't yet realized is that this is central to our forward press strategy. If Cloke kicked a goal every time, we wouldn't be able to trap it in our forward line for such long periods of time, wearing down our opponents. Our game style would be significantly weakened as a result. The secret to beating Collingwood is getting Cloke to kick more goals. This is why we haven't hired Lloyd as his kicking coach. MM = genius.

Agreed Daics. How many goals Collingwood get from turnovers after behinds is an amazing statistic. Travis is only playing to the game plan. As our players know Travis is a 50/50 chance to kick a goal from 30 out, they already set up for the Swarm forward press when he is kicking for goal. Hence the massive number of turnovers leading to further Collingwood scores.

Travis dominates the forward 50 like no other player.

If he could kick, the Pies would have had to smash their salary cap to keep him. Thus leading to pressure with GWS likely to swoop on Dane Swan or Scott Pendlebury. And with other players coming out of contract, more pressure on salary cap.

But cause Travis can't kick but is brilliant in all other aspects of the game. Collingwood paid significant unders for him. Allowing them to keep the rest of their star studded list.

Thus meaning the Pies are very well placed for back to back and 3-peat without salary cap pressure.

Thanks Travis for being brilliant at everything other than converting.

Meaning we can keep the whole list together.

For all of the Riewoldt crap, Cloke played his worst game of the year, (2 years?) in the Grand Final replay.

You could argue Collingwood are better when Cloke gets out of the way.

If you work it out on how much Collingwood contracted Jason and Cameron just to get Travis.

You learn something new every day

I thought they had to contract Travis because they had Jason.

Travis is universally loved by his team-mates as well because he is prepared to put his body on the line for them. That is why he is called Tarzan around the Club because game after game, the samller running players know that they can rely on Travis Cloke putting out for them when it comes to the hard physical stuff.

Well done Travis.

A man’s man.

Putting out for them? Maybe he should be nicknamed Jane then.

I have always been told by Pies supporters that they wanted Travis from a very young age, hence recruiting the other two flogs...
Collingwood scum can you please shed light on this matter for us?
