Wouldn't trade pick 18 for him, to much uncertainity of which way his career will go. He can certainly play the game, maybe he gets his head in better space of the field, it will translate on the field. I do believe his best footy is still ahead of him.

Doesn't lead to the right areas.

Doesn't have an accurate kick.

Doesn't get many touches around the ground.

Can't stand up in big games.

Shouldn't be traded to Melbourne.

You can't be serious that he dosn't stand up in big games!? He won our best finals player in 2007, the year he won the Copeland in a side that took Geelong to 5pts in the PF! Cloke is a gun and you are all canning him, calling him a spud! Well, look at your own backyard first! All the things that you list him as apply to everyone at Melbourne except Aa. Davey - and he wants out!

Jack Watts = Justin Westhoff!

I cant stand this argument that because Melbourne are a bit average then somehow we, as Dees fans are unable to make a decent assessment of an opposition player. Like somehow the short comings in our list are directly affecting our ability to make accurate decisions.

Cloke had a very good year in 2007, but the point that's been made numerous times in this thread is that he's not gone on with it. Not that he's a bad player, just that he's plateaued. Maybe he will get better, maybe he wont but at this point he's playing pretty average football and it's no wonder the overwhelming opinion in this thread is that he's no better than the Demons own lead up, non goal scoring CHF Brad Miller.

Get a grip Didak04, if Cloke was a great player he'd have been able to go on from, or at least maintain his very good '07 form which he's been unable to do. I honestly think that if his name wasnt Cloke then he'd have been dropped this year.

Also, to compare Jack Watts with Westhoff is simply the most ludicrous assessment, one that I'm not surprised about coming from a Pies fan. Watts has played two AFL games and was finishing year 12 this year, I'm tempted to pander to the collingwood fan stereotype and ask whether you did but I wont. Westhoff has been given a heap of chances at Port and proved not good enough. There's no way that there is any data to prove that Watts is going to bust, infact pretty much everything points to the opposite - Melbourne has done absolutely the right thing and allowed him to finish school but given him a taste of the AFL at the same time. Watts will do a full preseason and come into next year super prepared for AFL, maybe he wont star in his first full season but as a KPF that's not unusual, however by the time he hits 20-21 he'll be fully developed and backing in off 20 or 30 games of experience. That's when we can begin to make a call on whether he'll make it or not.

Why bother even making an call like that? i bet your the type of person who just goes and orders fast food instead of cooking yourself dinner because of the time it takes to prepare. "hurr hurr, number 1 pick isnt a superstar straight away, he totally must suck."

This thread is a joke...

1) Cloke would be the last person Collingwood will trade, he will be a star! (He is still 22? and holding down the hardest position in the game)

2) He is more valuable to us than anyone else, we would spit in Melbourne's face if they offered pick 18, Collingwood would not trade him if melbourne offered pick one and two.

It isn't going to happen, however there is strong rumour that Davey wants out and word going around is that Melbourne are interested in Chris Dawes and pick 14, would you as supporters be happy with that deal if Davey wanted out...

Started by a Collingwood supporter.

If Davey were to leave, that means that Aussie but more importantly Jurrah no longer have him to confide in. That's where it will hurt most, in that Jurrah probably will not continue to come on.

Davey, is therefore worth more to us than another 2 first rounders.

AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Comparing Cloke to Brad Miller! That is priceless! He is the biggest spud to embrace the field! Cloke had a bad year this year, but it was plagued with a hamstring injury and more importantly, on a psychological note, a bullet shot through his house! If your house got shot at you would be shaken up too mate. Having said that, yes he had a poor year, but as a CHF you don't peak at 20, which is the age he was in 2007. It took N Riewoldt years to become an out n out star and Trav is still developing. He has also been forced up the ground this year due to our forward structure, therefore, he kicked fewer goals.

Commenting on my education? Yes i finished year 12 and yes I did well. This isn't the place to boast about my ENTER, so I won't.

That fast food argument is rediculous! What has that got to do with anything? That analogy would only apply if I actually did that, which in this case, your assumptions are incorrect.

You blokes better take Dawes for Davey, because the way it is going you will definately need some muscle up forward, because Watts won't put any on even if he's on the juice!

Of course it's not ridiculous. You're making the same point about Riewoldt and Cloke as I'm mading with Watts. That they need time to develop into their roles because they're playing in one of the more difficult positions. However you're clearly willing to give Travis Cloke a break yet not Watts. The point I was making was that players like Watts need to be given time, time which by making stupid comparisons like "Watts = Westhoff" you're clearly unwilling to give.

As for the comparison between Miller and Cloke, that was made on the radio and has been made before in this thread not just by me. They both had 'break out' years; Miller last year and Cloke the year before but have both failed to follow up, or even maintain that form. They both play a similar lead up role for our respective clubs so to be fair comparisons are inevitable. They've got remarkably similar stat-lines as well.

Personally I don't buy your 'thats how our forward line works' now argument as an excuse for why Clokes not playing well either. Seems to me that Malthouse has no faith in Cloke as a goal kicker, otherwise Rocca wouldnt have been brought back in underdone in an attempt to take the pressure off Anthony. If Cloke was good enough they would have trusted him in their last two finals, which they clearly didn't.

Anyway, whatever. You love Cloke, we get it. It's clear from this thread that the overwhelming weight of opinion from most posters is that they dont rate him as highly as you do.

Also, he's a total wuss. I'll struggle to ever rate a player who wears a glove.

Boast away mate!!

So a Collingwood supporter comes on here and asks a question, we respond and through this cop cr@p about our number 1 draft pick??

The comment about Collingwood not taking pick 1 and 2 for Cloke just makes me laugh!! I actually think Cloke is a decent player but considering what WCE took for Judd, i think Collingwood would take pick 1 and 2!!!

IMO the main point in this is that Collingwood rate Cloke very highly in their side which is fair enough but no other Club would rate him high enough to give away a first round pick!!!

Methinks "Didak004" may be a sock puppet, by the look of things... seen this tactic of posting wildly ludicrous stuff on other boards under aliases plenty of times before...

Brad Miller had a break out year? Last year? Wowee, he must have broke out from 100% dud to 95% spud because he was s***! Brad Miller was 25 in his 'break out year', Trav Cloke was 20!

I agree, Cloke is a shocker in front of goal, but there is massive upside with him and I am certain that other clubs rate him or else he wouldn't cop their best defender every week. Problem is, they let him push up to half back getting kicks because he cant hurt you pumping it inside 50, which is a stat he once lead for KP forwards. Bottom line is Cloke isn't a gun now, but there is no doubt that he will be.

Watts is young, thats a given, so yes he will take time, but it will be alot of time, because blokes like Trav, Buddy, Roo and J Brown are CHF naturally built for this game, they have had the broad shoulders and big legs since they were juniors, whereas Watts is a stick, and some sticks just never get big enough to play KP eg. Justin Westhoff!

In Fevola's first year he only got 2 possessions in total.

And in Brown's first game he ended up with a big goose-egg across the board - as well as failing to register a goal in his first season.

The whole "selective memory" nonsense as it relates to Watts was dumb enough when it began, and it's amazing that it's still going on BF...
