Starts this week. Im generally a fan of Sheridans work so keen to see what he does with Sly in this.

Looks very interesting, with a lot of talent on both sides of the camera. I can't commit just yet, but it looks like something I'll be catching up on.

Looks interesting. Apparently Sheridan was very hands off actually and the main man is in fact Terance Winter of The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire (and Vinyl, lol) fame. The idea for the show was a little different from Sheridan originally, apparently he wanted it to be set in Kansas City among other things, but Winter wanted a smaller town and stuff. Keen to sus, will also finally watch The Offer when I sub to paramount.

Cool, just looking at the wiki, Vincent Piazza seems to be a decently sized actor on this show. Absolutely ****ing loved him on Boardwalk. Surprised his career hasn't turned out better.

Glad I made time for the first episode, I'm drawn in now and ready to commit. The 'fish out of water' story is hardly original, but it's told well so far, and there seems to be a lot of room for this to grow, and it has a few seasons in it. If the show is (hopefully) allowed to run its course, the ending I'm picking this early is that Dwight goes up against the NYC family and wins enough so they leave him alone. Dwight is a perfect role for Sly, though I doubt it'll ever have the sane cultural cachet as Rocky or Rambo.

My favourite scene was in the taxi, where the culture and generation gap between Dwight and Tyson led to a fun bit of dark humour between the two.

I liked the 2nd ep also. Just like Dwight in the show its getting straight down to business.

Stoned Sly was pretty funny.

I'm enjoying the interactions between the characters atm. It seems to be composed of a bunch of small set pieces rather than a unified whole, but they're giving it room to breathe to establish the characters and setting. Not wholly original, but no less enjoyable for that.

Stoned Sly was great, but the standout so far for me is Tyson; the cultural and generation gap between them is a well that won't run dry for a while.

Enjoyed yesterday's episode, they really upped the action. Curious to see where the bikers fit in. That car chase was epic though, somehow taking that action movie trope and making it work in the confines of a small city.

My only real criticism atm, and this is Paramount not the show itself, is the preview scenes for the next week. I feel they undid the build up for a pretty significant plot point in next week's episode with the line up right at the end (when they're all carrying baseball bats), as it answers questions ahead of time.

This show has Grand Theft Auto Vice City vibes. If you have played that video game and know the storyline. Substitute Miami for Tulsa

Lol, I was honestly thinking earlier that it does have some video game tropes, in the recruiting of the crew, the establishing rackets, etc.

Maybe life really is a simulation...

Today's episode feels like it was more of a linking episode, though that's not to say I didn't enjoy it. A bit more background was given to Dwight and Tyson, though there was an odd U-turn with the Bad face character that may have made more sense had he been given more screen time. I get the feeling the NY mob family will become the main antagonist over time, which was fairly apparent from the first episode, but the leader of the bikies is shaping up to be a pretty formidable lesser villain.

My fav ep so far. Stallone was menacing as at the end.

Yeah, that last scene...just visceral.

Really liking the Irish biker boss, too.

Just watched this now on Paramount and was hooked from the first 10mins!

Binged the whole thing and finished last night and what a great final episode it was. All i can say is welcome back Sly Stallone and bring on season 2!

Currently watching S2 E1 that dropped tonight.

Not the most enthralling (plot wise) episode so far, but what i will credit for is Sly and his amazing ability to act like he is speaking from the heart.

Ever since his Rocky days, for a so called action hero, Sly has never been shamed to expose his vulnerable/human side as an actor and character actor.

Sly really is a far better/more nuanced and intelligent actor than many give him credit for

You've got to remember he's also written a few of his films. A lot of his 80s movies probably didn't require that much intelligence to write (Cobra), but the original Rocky movie is brilliant. That he didn't take the easy way out and put the belt on him showed a real appreciation for human psychology and storytelling (and you'll notice the series became sillier as it went, but that first movie is a classic).

The first season was pretty good. My favourite episode was the driving test. The first two eps of season 2 have carried on where they left off, with a couple of new characters.
