Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

Definitely trade bait.. Cassel is gone!!!

Yeah I think cassel was gone by the end of last year, a shame, good guy but not good enough on the field, the permanent backup, first to palmer then brady.

Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

Kevin O'Connell is actually a very good QB. He was/is highly scouted by a plethora of teams before and after the combine/proday. The Pats nabbed him early (3rd round). He'll be the heir to Brady.

Imo, in the next couple of years, if Brady starts to wane a little and O'Connell comes along strong, look for Brady to be the one traded for a bundle of picks.

Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

Zbikowski will be a bloody good pick for Baltimore IMO. Was hoping he'd somehow to the Chargers, aswell as Dan Connor if we had a pick in the 3rd, cause of that idiot Cooper being suspended now

Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

Hey we picked a QB I was waiting for that. Mini Brady;) or trade bait???

Draft is such a crap shoot, but OConnell is a a fellow San Diego State alum who is a good QB. I saw him during the year when I was over there and he looked good. He has the tools and, in the right situation (NE), can do extremely well. Whether he is the 5th best, 3rd best or 13th best QB in the draft, none of us has a clue. He will back up, watch and pick the brain of the league's best and that certainly cannot be a bad thing. Of course, Brady is only 31 next season and would seem to have a few good years left, so OConnell might not start for 7 years. Even Steve Young didn't wait that long.

Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

gg, your thoughts on Fabian Washington?

obviously a good talent coming out of college taken in the first round, still only 25. Was not going to be a started with Asomugha and Hall ahead of him, probably still #3 on the depth chart with us but Rolle may well lose out to him in the preseason and even if he doesnt is an injury risk.

For mine, definitely worth the 4th rounder we gave to you for him and if Rex Ryan can't get that talent out of him then no one will, he is now in one of the best situations a defensive player can be in, so i suppose only time will tell, but i like the move a lot.

gg and manureid, you would know more about him then me, strengths, weaknesses, thoughts in general?

Im not high on Washington at all. Borderline bust. Could have partly to do with the environment at the Raiders, but I think it's mainly him. He's an all-talk type. However, I think the Ravens will be good for him, but he will end up back-up but fail to make a mark.

He's fast, not too fluid, hasnt got very good awareness, cant tackle. The Raiders wasted a first on him and it's just 'hurtful' having to trade in these guys every year for a 4th rounder. We SHOULDVE got more value for him because he's still young/raw etc, but i guess teams like Ravens know they could get him for a 4th. We tried to shop him for a 3rd but teams still werent interested.

He had a domestic violence incident during the off-season as well.

GG/Manurid.
do u guys love McFadden?

Yes, of course, I'm carrying one of his babies.

Nah, if you mean do I like the pick, yes of course. I'm no homer. McFadden or Ellis imo were the best players at the top of the draft for us to select from. McFadden gets the nod for the offensive firepower he would add to our anemic offensive woes, helps JR, and McFadden is not at all overhyped as a collegiate player. He did it all - amassed over 4,000 yards, countless TDs, every down back, returned kicks, did it three consecutive years in the SEC.

Re: NFL Draft - Online Coverage

How many picks from last season are still on the Pat's list?

Seriously, could they blow any more wind up this team's arse?

Sure they work the draft, sure they like trading to gain more picks, but ultimately their drafts prove to be more quantity than quality.

Draft 'grades' are pointless anyway.

How many people were talking up the Saints draft when they took Colston in the 7th? Bush was considered the steal of that draft at the second pick but we got the better player with the 2nd last pick in the entire draft..

You've just got to let it pass, and not pay attention to the people who think such articles validate the greatness of their team.

They spend 6-months cooking up 'mock drafts' that have no value or meaning and after draft day are wasted time and energy.

Then after the draft they come out and give grades and say how teams cocked up.

Lets be honest, the guys that write these articles are like you and me. Just wanna-bes who want to run a NFL franchise.

Yeh, I am more hopeful with this pick than I have been with a few of our previous 1st rounders (Gallery/Huff/even JRuss although I am still hopeful with him - but worried). He is a talent, undeniably, and was the 'sexy' pick I guess. We have just released Rhodes, and I would assume L Jordan will go as well, leaving Fargas/DMac and Bush, which is good. I really want to see what Bush brings to the table as I am loving the thought of him and Dmac doing the business.

But, we shall see. DLine still represents a concern, and protecting JRuss. We were better last season, and our running game was much better, which bodes well.

Ah really? good to hear from someone on here who saw him and not someone on espn.Yes the down side to having a great qb is the backup will never get a shot until he is injured or retired. But like you say it cant be a bad thing having the kid hang out with Brady for a while, he looks like he can def throw the ball, which is just what the patriots look for. They'll polish him up, Im looking forward to his progress.:thumbsu:

Yeah really, we know you jets fans are miserable:p but dont take any of those guys too seriously. They suck and have no idea. I can just imagine the giggles the pro's get out of these sports writers. I have always felt the Patriots were better in FA than the draft overall, but I am happy with this years daft, the QB was a pleasant surprise for me to be honest and we got the defenders that none of these sports writers predicted which can only be a good thing.

Re: NFL Coverage in Australia

So Mondays will now have 2x1:00pm games, 2x4:00pm games and 1x8:00pm game? I have Ten HD and ESPN so im looking forward to the NFL Season!

Great news indeed. Have the HD and everything, so should be good to watch a swag of games this way than the often crappy Sopcast quality. However, I will still watch Sopcast games because broadcast games are often always teams I'm not keen on watching like Green Bay, Dallas, etc. I like watching teams like KC, Oakland, Cleveland, Houston, Detroit, etc too.

yeah, that's true. i hate not knowing the result of a game tho and watching it a day later. plus, watching a game on sopcast you find out the results of the other games, including fantasy leagues you're in.

but for sure, watch a game or two live, then download a torrent of a particular game later and watch that.

Re: NFL Coverage in Australia

I need to get me some HD. Nothing like starting off a week, with some good NFL action. As a Cowboys fan, however, I can't complain about the amount of coverage they get here in Australia.
