Hard to know with NBA playoffs as they always hurt wrestling ratings but that's a big dip. I guess AEW's demo are more likely to be watching NBA but will be interesting to see numbers in a few weeks when they're over. Probably want to get that belt on Punk asap.

I wouldn’t stress about the American ratings too much. Both companies still maintain their spot as the top few original cable programs on their given day. Which tells us it’s more a television as a whole trend. SmackDown on network TV too, usually last in total viewers but first in the ‘coveted demo’.
There’s just so many ways to consume the product now. You could almost entirely watch the show just off peoples Twitter posts.
I’d suspect both companies will still see sizeable increases to their television deals in the future.

Surprised with the drop off after the MJF segment.

Odd drop off after the MJF promo. I was watching on my lunch break and ended up nearly watching the entire show throughout the rest of my shift because I just couldn't bring myself to turn it off after that.

Shame more didn't stick around for the terrific main event as well.

With streaming services its hard to gauge really but lets face it the hardcore wrestling fans that back in the day would jump from WWF and WCW at the time would watch both whether that be record one on video tape and watch later and with a lack of spoilers back then it was more fun. These days you don't even have to watch a show to work out what has happened you can read spoilers live, twitter reactions live which includes highlights of the match.

By now if there was going to be a massive spike it would have happened by now and if Punk winning the belt doesn't do it or Danielson , Cole at All Out nothing will. I am tipping the WWE fans that love wrestling and understand there are alternatives out there are already watching but the remaining WWE base which is made up of kids which given the blood baths on AEW programs they will never get so maybe its time we give up the AEW vs WWE " War" as its not even close to being a war. AEW will never get to the same level as WWE let alone go past it because in this day and age unless they pick up that kid viewership they won't grow any further as wrestling is not popular as it was back in the day so the middle aged bracket just magically won't jump on board to watch. You either grow up a wrestling fan as a kid or you don't. Pretty rare for someone 20-40 to just decide to watch wrestling all of a sudden.

No NBA, no NHL and off the back of Double or Nothing.

Didn’t MirosWife say AEW would be averaging 1.1 million by now?

Was against an NHL playoff game. If you're going to bump this with your usual AEW negativity at least get your facts straight. Rated ok. Not brilliant but not terrible. Demo .40 is getting back up to where they would want/need it.

Interesting American ratings for Friday:

SmackDown: 2,290,000
Rampage: 331,000

Ratings are not a be all guide obviously, but I think it clearly shows the Japan crossover stuff is not gaining any viewers, in fact it’s losing viewers interest, when you consider the huge drop for Dynamite last week. A shame, considering the hot MJF angle they had going only a few weeks prior. Of course, loss of some established name talent to injury plays a part, as both companies are currently dealing with.

Reigns appearing and wrestling looks to be a big draw too, as that seemed to do 2.5M live. He and Brocks video has 4.2M YT views in 72 hours from what I’ve seen as well.
