Gabba, Brisbane
7pm Friday January 7

Round 2 finally gets underway with the biggest winner from round 1 playing the second-biggest loser. The side winning the toss has one all three games so far by margins of 63 (Tassie), 33 (Victoria) and 21 (NSW) runs, but that could change on a Gabba pitch under threatening Brisbane skies.

The Bulls have looked at that and decided they won't be playing two spinners, so Luke Feldman replaces Brad Ipson in the squad. They have plenty of bowling options so it's unlikely that a batsman will make way for him, perhaps Ben Laughlin who went for plenty as the sixth bowler used in Melbourne. Craig Philipson was left out at the G and could be a chance to replace one of the allrounders - Reardon or Neser, with Reardon, Lynn and Carseldine all bowling options not used by Hopes in the previous game.

Flogging WA isn't a great achievement but it doesn't provide any reason to make a change and Tassie haven't made one. Those pictures work again for Jon Wells, with Ed Cowan dropping out of the squad for this one, but if there is to be a change it's likely to be Luke Butterworth, who will enjoy the conditions at the Gabba. Usually you'd say one of the spinners will miss out but Doherty and Krejza are too important to Tassie, so Brendan Drew may be the unlucky one.

I give the Bullls a huge chance here, they are back home, and Tassie have to make their second long trip, granted with a decent break in between games.

Plus that QLD side isn't too different to the one that made the prelim last year, so I see them as a good chance tonight.

Is Allistair McDermott injured?, or don't they rate him at this level yet, because he was quite good last year in this format.

I reckon with the T20 if you backed Victoria in their games and then backed the outsider in the rest you would make money.

Tas were $2 outsiders against WA.
Victoria won @ ~$1.40
NSW were ~$2.10 outsiders against SA.

Queensland are $2.30 outsiders here.

I'll see how this holds up across the tournament (as an alternative to the whoever wins the toss and bat wins theory).

7:25 PM With international superstars in Michael Lumb, Naved-ul-Hasan and Ryan ten Doeschate along with home grown talent in George Bailey and Xavier Doherty cricket will certainly be the winning tonight!

The cricket.com.au commentator has a touch of the Ian Healy's about him tonight.
