team is shit. they didnt have the guts to choose any players form the u19's except for one. could be a lot better.

Your are a muppet my friend!

Have seen over half of the players in the side play and they would make any player you put forward look like a bench warmer!

Any definate confirmation's on who is going to lead the side!

Spargo will dominate the backline, Trent Lee will run a muck where-ever he players, some good tall forwards in the side as well.

I would expect them to come away 30 point victors!

heard from one of the st bedes boys that the team is looking excellent. backline is solid, lead by spargo and james saville. forwards have a massive unit in justin summons and jono vickers-willis. he also mentioned that the midfield is shaping up to be a beauty, the ruckman is from caulfield and from all reports the right shoe of captain jack hellier and the bullet left of dayne coulsen-hoffacker are easily the best in the under 19 competition. he said the forwards couldn't believe how good the delivery was in drills from both coulsen-hoffacker and hellier. should be a cracking game, good luck to justin swayne who apparently will be running a muck both on and off the field.

Hellier is a terrific choice and deserves it throughly. And swayney is one of the funniest, out going blokes I've ever seen on the footy field. Good luck to all involved.

If by team information you mean the actual team itself, I know one of the boys playing and he showed me the team sheet and I just wrote it down and then copied it over to all the interested bigfooty lovers.

summons as vc is a joke.. collins was robbed.. summons would be bringing his mum with him to take care of him up there wouldnt he.. deff wont be out on the piss after he has got training on tuesday..

i couldnt agree with you any more chopchop.
having seen summons play juniors, he's softer then butter, i dont know if he's hardened up since then, but he'd want to have. im sure he'll run out with his mum holding his hand to make sure he doesnt get hurt!

best of luck for the boys heading up there, should be good fun for them, add to that, they've got a copper heading up to blow the whistle for them so hopefully they dont play up too much

22 goal thumping...what do people think about this?

Were the best selected or did they just pick a couple of the best from each of the senior sections.

Surely the top 10 players in the premier section are better then the players who were selected that came from clubs competing in D1-D4.

Maybe its just a mismatch playing the QAFL u21's

Don't be surprised if some of the players in that Queensland U21 team end up being in the Gold Coast squad for their initial AFL season in 2011.

vafa rep footy is a joke. Has been for so many years. I got shot down once for saying this, with the classic reply that obviously i have never been in a state game. I have and i will say it again...VAFA rep footy means zero to almost all concerned and playing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the future of Representative Football was on top of the agenda at this year's Executive Seminar, and also at the VAFA AGM in December. If the VAFA don't start winning these games at Senior (A/B), C-D4, Under 23, Under 19-then clubs at all sections would be wondering is it really worth it sending players down to state training and also allowing them to play, knowing they risk the possibilty of one of their star players going down injured which could possibly wreck their season, when recent results shows the VAFA being humiliated and embarassed by teams who they should've beaten such as Sth Australia, AFL Queensland, VCFL. The days of VAFA dominance at rep footy is over-perhaps forever.

My view is I think it would be a better idea if we play these rep games every 2 years, rather than every year. The non-rep footy year would be focussed solely on club footy-no rep/State of Origin games. If the VAFA continues playing these rep games every year, as is the case now-and the VAFA continues to be thrashed at every rep game-then interest of these rep games would dwindle and there'll be very little or no support at all for representative football. So, the solution is simple-play these games every 2 years.

Fair dinkum Jase, you must be a bureaucrat coming up with that solution. So instead of being murdered annually the VAFA get smashed every second year, where is the difference?
The problem lies with the selectors and the selection process. The first problem is how to evaluate players from 50 teams in the first 4 weeks of the year. This process has apparently been refined by primarily looking at players who are in their clubs first team.
I was amazed to find that a lot of these players were selected in the initial squad without much regard for form. In fact to me the main criteria appeared to be has the player in question kicked a goal. If the answer was yes he was in the squad.
Several players were selected when their clubs had not seen fit to ever name them in their best player lists. Some of these players are yet to have made the best for their team!
It was ludicrous that Hugh Apted playing for the top team in the top comp was overlooked in the initial squad.
If the VAFA is going to persist with rep games they have to select form players for every position

care to put any names behind your theory. i agree that some of the players weren't playing the best footy but the hiding that the vics got can't be because the team they picked were crap. aparently the queensland boys were unbelievably good and were just too good.

Since Brisbane's success 5 years ago, QLD footy is growing in strength from year to year. Let's remember, the side the ammos played were the best in the state at U21 level. Many are paid players who play in a comp that has some quality running around, some of who would be professional footballers. Many of these guys would know each other very well having played together in state sides in U15, U16, U18 and now. They were probably paid for playing on the weekend.

To select a rep side from 50 odd teams in 8 weeks is an enormous job. Naturally, selectors are likely to make some wrong decisions but I'm sure its not through lack of trying. The players come recommended from the clubs themselves and some are then added along the way if their form warrants it.

Hats off to Trent Lee who was named the ammo best player coming from a side in D2.

I didn't say the team were crap, but the selection process...........and I generally do not like naming people as I do not believe that is being fair.
Of the 50 odd players in the initial squad 11 have never played in their team firsts so we do not know how they would handle playing against larger experienced footballers. One did not appear on his team sheet in the firsts, second or U19s,one played his first game after the squad was announced and has yet to play firsts, and four have never been named in their team best. And at least 4 players have been named in their team best at any level on only one occasion.
So whether this squad was picked on reputation or VAFA politics, I do not know but if the VAFA is going to be serious about rep football and not have 131pt floggings then they will have to look at the way squads are selected.

Do you think this year's Under 19 VAFA rep team was picked more on reputations rather than on current club form?

How else could it be judged. You have so many clubs playing at varied levels and only 6 weeks to come up with anwers. People are very quick to bag the system. Anyone got any solutions?

I doubt the 131 point margin was because they sent up a second rate side.

I have one solution: Sack the selectors.
