Went and watched the game between Werribee and Bullants , Werribee had a few out and the ground was a disgrace I Dont no why they played on it it was 3 inches covered in mud , very ordinary

We played on it because Preston City Oval was unavailable due to NFL finals, the other two grounds the council offered us as an alternative had no change rooms or canteen facilities, so staying at Zwar Park was the best option.

Well done Lemms................................
Finals Tips : Div 1. Werr v Old Camb Rupo v Oak
Div 2. St Bern v St Mary/Sal UHS v St John

Big weekend ahead Mindy. Conditions could play a big part in the result.

Tips : Rupo, Werr, Bernies & UHS.

Was OC on their game last week or was Oakleigh short staffed again ?

OC had a few back, pretty much the same side that gave us a 'touch up' early in the year. We had our chances with 11 more scoring shots and beaten by 4pts, bad football. They've got some big lads and I reckon their size might trouble Werribee. Looking forward to Saturday, see you there Lemms................

Great win by Werribee today "Mike Turner coach of the year"

Good luck next week boys !

Great game of footy @ Harry Trott on Sat. Rupo & Oakleigh staged a cracking contest for the duration of the game. Not much in it at the finish. I think the Oakleigh player who was reported may be in a little strife, Umps were right on the scene at the time. Some very tired and weary players at the end of the game. Highlight was the screamer taken by James Kremers in front of the clubrooms in the final term. I see next week's games are at Central Reserve, hope we don't get any rain during the week...

Agree Lemms great contest, lapse in 3rd quarter cost Oakleigh plus the lad going off in the last, the retaliator always gets caught ! Impressed with Collegians ground was in great condition.
Difficult task for Krushers this week against the Werribee mosquito fleet.
The big Central Res.(if it drys out) should suit Werribees runners.
Credit to Old Camb in 1st semi, to get back into the game and make it a good contest after being jumped by Werribee at the start.

Who did everyone think had an impact for each team?
I'm not one to know the player names, however, that one oackleigh forward kept them in the game throughout and ended up kicking five in the end for memory.

Will be a very interesting match next week with two quite speedy teams battling it out!

Rod Jetta was very good up forward for Oakleigh. Dillon Taylor is also a terrific forward for Werribee. I agree, the Prelim will be a beauty. Hopefully there's not much rain before Saturday.

I can't believe that the VAFA have chosen Central Reserve for the U19 Preliminary Final after the ground was deemed unfil for U19 finals last weekend. People I know say that it has been absolutely shocking for several weeks now and would never have been up to scratch for finals.
It seems the money-hungry VAFA is hell bent on revenue raising instead of showcasing their new junior football competition.
Harry Trott would have been the obvious choice for U18 finals with an excellent surface BUT no way to fence the ground off to make money from spectators - it's a joke.
I've had experience at Central Reserve over a number of years in VAFA finals when it was OK to play on.
Now, the weather and its condition will have a huge say in the outcome.
At its best, Central Reserve would hugely suit a fast running side like Werribee - especially when it is usually very windy out there (it's near the old VFL headquarters at Waverley) and negates strong marking teams.
As its a mud heap and the weather forecast is predicting a wet Saturday with little wind, the game will become a slog where the bigger, slower bodies of Oakleigh will come into play.
I have no allegiance to any of the U18 teams remaining in the finals. Iadmire the style and commitment to game structures of the Werribee team although I suspect they're a tad brittle when they focus on the one style of forward play to their full forward who get frustrated if he can't find open spaces and has a tight playing full back.
Oakleigh relies on a couple of key outsiders who can be shut down with accountability and I don't like their trash talk and arrogance.
Whoever wins I reckon will be soundly trounced by a committed, inclusive unit in Rupertswood that personify true U18 football with no reliance on U19 'smokies'.
Good luck to all teams - and the VAFA need to take a really good look at themselves if they think the future of U18 football in the Amatuers is going to be helped by giving them one of the worst finals venues.

how could you say that Bullants are a discrace??? We were the only team this year that actually fronted up with the same players every week and we were harshley dealt with by the VAFA having to play Rupo 4 times instead of twice and playing dud teams like St bernards and UHS-VU in rounds 9 and 10. And did we complain?? no, we went out and played with the same group of boys we did the week before (unlike other teams who swapped TAC cup and U/19s players in and out). The rules and draws in this comp are ****ed and YOU ARE AN IDIOT
