Funnily enough I just watched the first ep half an hour ago. I like David Mitchell (although I didn't take to Upstart Crow at all). And this? Likeable enough, but it's more 'Sunday evening viewing'.

Jenna Coleman makes an unlikely gritty Northern detective - she's just annoying. Imagine Hermione Granger conducting a murder investigation. The plot is muddled and dull. It's all shot in the dark and the dialog is muffled.

Gee, it's been a quiet few months for UK Crime shows... I have found one though and am about to start it; 'Until I Kill You'... Based on a True Story, mostly great reviews & well, Anna Maxwell Martin should be 'nuff said:

Binged it today. Very good. Not really a cop show, more about the victim. Her oddball, abrasive character makes things hard for friends and police who try to help her. Anna Maxwell Martin should be scooping up awards for this performance (though her accent was a bit all over the shop lol). Shaun Evans is also very good as the psycho boyfriend.

Well, as she points out more than once, the real person was born in Australia, then moved to Canada, then to Detroit & then to the UK!
