Finally back at HQ during the week. Significant numbers at the season launch - the social room upstairs was jam packed. Wish we could get the same numbers for our Association meetings!

Big milestone this week for Anthony Simpson reaching 600 games.

From starting the goals in the 1990s to field umpiring over the last 20 plus years, Simmo has been a great servant.

Clubs get the appointments for all games, but haven’t seen them shared anywhere.

Even the EFL umpires association used to share theirs every week and no longer do.

Can’t understand the overlords at HQ who decided to have only two field umpires at Trinity today! Grrrr. Surely B grade deserves better if other grades lower are getting more umpires appointed to their games!!!

Gunny can be often found doing the women's, under 19's or 3rds these days and sometimes doing more than 1 game a week.

from what I her, ammos struggling to keep quality umps! spoke with Ammo coach of D2 last weekend said standard they get every week is abysmal!
Maybe I should come out of retirement!

Veteran John Natoli has completed 800 games. Seems to have been around forever.

Graham Templar will receive his life membership of the VAFAUA tonight at the Annual Dinner to be held at Aerial South Wharf.

Graham prior to umpiring had a long involvement as a player and coach.

Good on him, he gave me a call on Tuesday. I think my ears may be burning when he does his acceptance speech.

Well done to all those appointed to grand finals in recent weeks. The aforementioned umpire directly above has retired as of this week.

A fantastic game from Silf, Tom and Goughie, as we've come to expect. And I'm so proud of Pat, he's worked so hard. Always had faith in him even when he didn't seem to have it himself. A great partner to have between the big sticks.
