Umpiring?

Hoopers marking contest on the wing, where the wobble player didnt even look at the ball and just went straight for his arms - play on. Disgrace.

Someone on SEN just called up and complained that there was one umpire (number 15 according to this person) who did not pay collingwood one free kick - even when "2 m away from a contest" and the other umpire "50 m away had to pay it" - maybe number 15 actually had a clue?

Also, was surprised at the number of frees Buddy actually got - we all know what SOP is for Buddy
was amazed at that seemed to happen after i bagged them for the ones i thought he did not get

It was both ways today. The amount of times Thomas got put down behind play was ridiculous. The hawks obviously got the word he was playing hurt (suspected broken ribs) from last week and tried to target him.
yes both ways do agree there , doubt Daisy had broken ribs he would not be playing , he aint that good anyway !!! arrogant twat he is !! tell him if he don't like been called Daisy then he should tell his fans and the media !!! ,
if you are thinking the ribs cause of Hodge ! from what i here he actually did not have broken ribs in 08 just played up a bit tongue so i am told and let the rumor go around he fooled the cats see them test him and he had the biggest grin ! it was a joke and they fell for it ! so did i and quite a few fell for it !!!

play on it's not 360

.
With the umpiring, yes it was crap, and I thought we really got the thin end in the first half. But it was the inconsistency that spoiled things and drove everyone nuts - not this or that particular call. The holding the ball rule seems completely random, players disposing by simply dropping the ball seems to now be fair play, and whether or not you can impede someone from getting to a contest by holding their arm is more or less "flip a coin".

Thought the Pies ended up copping some very poor decisions too.

As for the Beams free... 100% correct - blatant holding. Now if only they could find a way to pay these consistently, games would be a lot less aggravating to watch.

Spot on well said. The umpiring is a little like the MRP wheel of un-fortune. You just never know what is coming. The HTB rule is by far the worst. If you drop it you are okay, but if you attempt to handball it and it comes out of one hand it's called incorrect disposal... go figure.

he aint that good anyway !!!

Short memory I see.

3 goals and 26 possessions in a best on ground performance against your mob earlier in the year.

How about when Rioli pinned a pies player in a perfect tackle, spun him around not once, not twice but THREE times only for him to DROP the ball.....and...... PLAY ON!!!!!

I found that one just beyond comprehension!

It was at this point I had to turn the TV over and calm down cause I was gonna smash something! By far the worst umpired game of the year IMO!

That's the one that stood out like a beacon!! Remember when an umpire paid a free against Hodgey, because he did a 360...What utter crap.. He didn't even complete the 360, BUT he was penalised..This one was a shocker decision by the "Dumpire".. There is no doubt that the holding the ball decisions have been let go a lot more the past frew weeks.
But FGS, when a player is turned 3x360 it IS a FREE KICK DUMPIRE!!
I mean what do you have to do to win a free? Especially when you play for Hawthorn...
BTW Did anyone at the game see what happened when Osborne was punched in the stomach? I think by Toovey..Bet it doesn't even get sighted! AS USUAL!!

Take off the blinkers guys. The umpiring was pathetic both ways.

My initial post was more about the amount of scragging they let happen off the ball, of which I felt our blokes were those impacted most obviously by it, and your mob wasn't penalised.

Agree that the general umpiring was bad both ways.

the o brien free kick was there, cant understand why anyone would suggest otherwise, he had prior opportunity of a few seconds, got tackled and dropped the ball, incorrect disposal free kick. The only problem i have with it is the consistency, plenty of times during the day players were given half an hour to get rid of it (the non call against a collingwood player when he was taken in a 1020 tackle and than threw it was the worst decision this year), The beams decision was a joke, slight touch of the jumper is not a free kick particularly at that stage of the game, common sense is to let the game go but that way of thinking has been taken away by the AFL and their obsession to keep the game as sanitised as possible.

no it is my opinion he is not that good he does not go in and get the hard ball gets he waits for it to be given to him he is a .... no i will not call him what some one else called him today who is not a hawk either ! but really he is an arrogant player who thinks he is better then his own team

2- if you read the posts they actual have said it was bad both ways !!!
3- do you need glasses to see !

2007 - Thompson had a cry about the harsh treatment geelong players got, have a look at the treatment since.

I see Thompson got on the front foot and told the AFL to look out for Steven Baker and his treatment of poor defenceless Steve Johnson ...

Thompson also questioned the AFL as to why Joel Selwood's free kick count was down this year, even though Selwood is still ranked 2nd in the league this season. In a prepared statement the AFL boss Andrew Demetriou responded with "Joel Selwood is well on track to break his record of 63 free kicks for recorded in 2008 and will most certainly surpass his super-impressive tally of 59 in 2009. These figures include finals and as of today we haven't played the 2010 finals series where we expect Joel to receive an average of 10 free kicks per game." Geelong coach Thompson, feigning wisdom, told the media throng that he hadn't brought the Finals into his calculations. However he was very concerned that while the AFL Umpires would be focusing on paying as many head high free kicks to Selwood they may omit Jimmy Bartel. "We as a club spend many hours perfecting what we call the 'feel high contact - drop to knees drill' and we would hate to see all this hard work go unrewarded." -AAP

1. Very observant of you, yes I am on the Hawks page, wow.

2. Majority of your members here have whinged about it which I find quite amusing. Yes there are the few who have stated it went both ways but have a read and you will find most do not quote that.

3. Are you referring to the umpiring or inequality of the posts made in this thread. If its referring to the umpiring, I could sit here and debate many decisions that didn't go our way i.e. Jolly broken nose in goal score, davis mark on boundary are a couple that come to mind which imo where critical decisions but im not here to complain about that because I don't care, that is football. If your referring to inequality of the posts in this thread, see 2.

Have a nice day!.

I will agree with you that the Jolly incident was not reportable as he was going for the ball, however he did make head contact and should have been awarded a free kick at least, all within the rules. Umpire didn't see it, so he didn't pay it, such is life.

Im not going to sit here and argue with you each incident because frankly i dont give a crap. Just pointing out thats its football and you guys need to get over it.

Bad Umpiring watch today's match, Sydney are paying the ump way more than Freo did. Sydney Supporters think that was a whole load of bull about Hawthorn being the best team outside the top 4!
